Stickymon - Kotobukiya Jason Voorhees

 Original lineart here:  Lady Voorhees

This  commission here was something I made to Stickymon back in October.  The  idea for it is that it would be a Halloween commission but the fault  was on my part in that I made the commission too close to the holiday  and Stickymon had a lot of others ahead of me.  So I think next time  I’ll try to plan ahead better.

Anyway, since it was done for  Halloween, what I wanted to do was something that I learned about from  my friend who did a cosplay of Jason Voorhees in this style.  From what  she told me it’s based on a figure that the company, Kotobukiya, had  done.  On it’s face value, it does look like a genderswap/fem/Rule 63  version of the character, but from what I was told it was essentially a  different person who took up the name “Jason Voorhees”.  At least that’s  the explanation I heard and try to tell others like how I tried to tell  my closest friend about it who brushed it off.  Her response was, “It’s  just mindless fanservice to sell figures”, which I’ll admit to but I  don’t really care because I love the design of it.

In the  creation of it, I suggested to Stickymon that it should be “sexy” and he  came up with a few ideas such as it was him who suggested that she have  her machete inside her shirt ready to essentially cut it off of  herself.  The next part that he suggested was for her lips, that she be  biting on her lower lip like she is really anticipating her next  action.

What resulted was a look where she looks like she  either wants to kill the viewer or have sex with them….or maybe both  since this is “Friday the 13th”.

Anyway, coloring the piece  was fairly easy, although the really tough parts came when I was working  in a “blood splatter” to both the machete as well as the body of  Voorhees.  After that, the real challenge began: creating a background.   Since I knew that this was “Friday the 13th” I had to put in something  that would have a connection to the location; Crystal Lake.  So, I went  through various screen caps from the movie and focused upon the sign for  Crystal Lake and worked that into the picture.

After that,  it was a case of essentially painting trees and shrubs of which I thank  Bob Ross and his show, The Joy of Painting.  Although, transferring the  techniques of wet on wet oil painting to digital painting is a feat in  itself because the difference between the two is this:  when working  with oil paints and brushes a lot of the work is done by the brushes  themselves.  With Digital, you pretty much have to monitor everything:  paint brush size, shape, the color you’re using and so on.

Essentially  you have to control and keep an eye on everything.  I know it may sound  nitpicky to go into detail about this, but I wanted this to be the best  of what I can do.
So after, all that was done and giving it  all a light blurring toe give it a background look, I felt that the  picture was finished.

Note:  All character(s) depicted here are 18 years of age or older.
