I'm so excited to announce that the new rudder finally made it’s way to the boat! They installed it the other day and it fits perfectly. Calypso has been moved to the area of the yard designated for bottom painting and is scheduled to be painted in the next couple of days. That should be the final item we need before splashing. This worked out because the special anti-fouling paint we use (Vivid) took longer to ship to Grenada than the rudder. If the rudder issue hadn't happened, we would've put off the painting and hauled out next season to do that job. Now that it's all going to be done we'll be able to stay in the water for a few years.
We're traveling back to Grenada within the week, the three of us are feeling a bit anxious to get back on the water and start moving. We’ve thrown around many different ideas as far as where to head and here’s what we’ve come up with.
Last season we skipped many of the islands between Anguilla and Martinique to ensure we'd be in Grenada by hurricane season. That being the case, we’ve decided to make a little u-turn to see all the beauty that we missed before heading off towards the Panama Canal. We have 4 months to see 5 different islands that we would like to see. Should be easily done!
Then the plan is to be back in Grenada by hurricane season to start arranging our sail towards the Panama Canal. That might actually happen before hurricane season though, so we'll see. We’ve asked John if he'd enjoy making the sail with us from Grenada to the ABC Islands so that should be a ton of fun!
Stay tuned for all the adventures that lie ahead!!
Love,
Brittany
