Last Saturday we joined in and became a part of the Grenada Hash Harriers. Basically they describe themselves as runners with a drinking problem that get together every Saturday and hash it out! They usually have a group of 150 - 300 people ranging through all ages participate in a walk or run along different trails through Grenada each week.
It sounded right up our alley so we decided to give it a try, we absolutely loved it! It was a bit challenging for Rhys to do the entire 5 mile walk, so I ended up carrying all 40 pounds of him on my back for about 2.5 miles uphill which is always a great workout! It ended with a warm welcome followed by island music, authentic Grenada food and cheap drinks!
Once everyone arrives back they do a ceremony for the "virgins" resulting in beer getting sprayed all over you!! That left me a little smelly once it dried but it created a lasting memory! Above is a picture of our group getting sprayed...We had no idea!
Cruisers find the Hash to be a great way to get off the boat and get some exercise so that's why at least half of the group is made up of the cruising community. Jeremiah and I plan to join in on a couple more before leaving this gorgeous Island of Grenada that we are calling home during hurricane season!
