We've recently had some issues with the dinghy and this time it isn’t a mechanical issue. Paperwork can be just as much of a pain to deal with, that's exactly what we have here.
John purchased a brand new AB dinghy and 20HP Yamaha outboard just before we started working on our deal to purchase the boat, which was great! Who wouldn’t love a new dinghy. The new dinghy is lighter which is great. The last center console was just too heavy. So the issue?
When John went to register it with the state, he was told that another AB dinghy had been registered with the same serial number. The dealer had obviously made a mistake on the paperwork when selling another dinghy, that owner has a registration with the incorrect serial number and we can't register ours until that gets worked out! So today, we're waiting on a call from the state who is supposed to be contacting everyone involved to sort it out.
This stuff happens. Either way, we will get it all sorted out before departing.
Current situation: The apartment is packed. We have boxes of "boat stuff" all around us, we're completing final tasks before leaving. This weekend we will spend with the older kids and then depart for Florida on Tuesday. Once we arrive, the boat will be empty, we'll be performing a deep clean of the interior (we're neat freaks) and then moving aboard. Gathering all the last minute stuff...Such as dive flags and other randoms before shoving off the dock around November 1st...Weather permitting!
The plan? As of now we're planning on crossing to West End, Grand Bahama. There we will go through customs and then swing around north to the Abacos.
Are you ready to come along with us?! We have some crew coming aboard immediately for the crossing and then lots of friends coming throughout the season. This is going to be fun!
