A sinking boat

Before I begin my little update I thought I’d share this little story with you! The other day we popped up out of the companion way and were sad to see this! This beautiful boat was under water just a few slips away from us. What happened?!

We’ve had some pretty rough storms in Key West lately so we're thinking that maybe one of the thru-hulls or hoses busted open allowing water to come into the boat. Who really knows though. The catamaran next to the boat was lucky enough to not receive any damage by the event but the Captain was a little upset to come home to see his sinking neighbor. Luckily no one was hurt and they've safely re-floated and removed the boat from the marina. I thought it would be neat to share with you since it’s something that you might not have not seen before. I know it was a first for us and really made one of our worries a reality! Lesson learned, always close your thru-hulls, thankfully we always do!

We're currently docked at Boca Chica Marina but not for long! The other two Geckos flew in from San Diego today, we couldn't be more excited! We have so many upcoming plans for them! Next week is a big one for us. We'll be spending the week showing the kids a little bit of Key West. Our children have always heard so many wonderful things about Key West from it being where we met, got engaged and eventually got married. Now it's up to us to show them just why we love it so much! Tomorrow we'll explore the marina, beach, sandbar and base which has become home to us over this past month. Then starting next week we have plans to head on over to Bahamas Village, Duval Street, Mallory Square and take them on a ghost tour. We also thought it would be cool to rent a six seater golf cart and go tour the other historical parts of the town. Of course, we will end the week with the Fury Ultimate Adventure Cruise and a day at one of our favorite spots, Dantes!

After our crazy, fun-filled week here with the kids we'll be more than ready to shove off and head west. This has been a long time coming as we are anxious to go after being stopped for a little over a month waiting and preparing for the kids. We plan to sail our way over to the Dry Tortugus making 2 stops along the way. The trip should take us about a week to get there and back, who knows what we will do after that...We will see!

Until the next time Patrons, we love you and appreciate all the dedication you have towards your Geckos!

You are completely right! WE can all learn from others unfortunate mistakes :( The kids being here will complete the Gecko (and us too) and she seems very happy to have her hull full of love <3
