We couldn't get the boat into a downtown Key West slip due to little availability...Plus the crazy cost! So we decided to leave the boat at NAS Boca Chica and rent ourselves a nice little room for 3 nights. We also had a nanny come in from care.com to watch Rhys so we could get some adult time. We've already had her come to the boat twice, she's great. It's nice when you find someone decent that you trust to watch your child but as always we had our baby cam running!!
It was fun to have a couple nights off the boat...Sleeping in a big bed. Not to mention our own showers and enough room for Rhys to run circles around us! Hehe!
The weekend turned out to be great! We got to experience Key West Memorial Day weekend style. It was incredibly busy and very hot but totally worth it. Thursday night we enjoyed sunset at the pier with 3 other sailing friends, talked a lot about boat life and our further plans. One of our friends is having a lot of trouble with his new-to-him boats documentation so we did our best to keep his spirits high and remind him of why it's worth the troubles.
Saturday was one of the best times ever as we met up with the Preppy Nomads (you may know them from YouTube) and boy-oh-boy what fun that was! We began our night at the Hard Rock for a few drinks which turned out to be a little crazy. We were all (gently) asked to leave after our 3rd beer simply because we were being a little loud with all the laughing that was going on. They are a lot of fun! So it was onto the next stop...The famous Lazy Gecko bar!
We got to know each other very well over drinks and dancing. Afterwards we ended the night poolside at the Preppy Nomads place. Watching Rhys play with other boat kids is always fun! I would say that this was one of the best Memorial Day weekends that we have had in a very long time.
Thank you, Patrons for being so awesome and supporting us in all we do! I hope you enjoyed our little Memorial Day weekend post!
