Ok here's a mistake to avoid should you ever move onto a sailboat. When we left for the wedding recently we knew we'd be away from the boat for about a week. Jeremiah turned off the wind generator and the solar panels just because we were set up with AC at the marina we pulled into. We thought it would be good to give those systems a rest and our wind generator isn't regulated. We don't want to cook our batteries. We left. Along the way to Texas, we got a call from the marina saying that they had scheduled maintenance on the electrical system and the AC power would be down for 2 days. Not a big deal, our batts can keep the fridge going. We got back and found that the power had actually been off for 5 days! Batteries were at 11.95. Enough to keep the fridge cool but the freezer was thawed. So was all the food in it. So note to self, leave the solar panels ON so they can keep things going if needed. Thankfully the power came back on yesterday afternoon!
