sha-Artan
Added 2021-05-19 19:48:43 +0000 UTCThis is a brief heads-up to let everyone know that, starting next month, I'll be posting here more regularly and sharing snippets, both large and small, of a science fantasy setting I'm creating. Called sha-Artan, it's the fruit of my years of refereeing Empire of the Petal Throne and generally thinking about science fiction settings masquerading as fantasy settings because no one in the setting understands the technology of "the Ancients" anymore.
The most immediate influences on sha-Artan are Burroughs's Barsoom, Clark Ashton Smith's Zothique, Vance's Dying Earth, and Wolfe's New Sun, as the various "space gods" of Jack Kirby and too many RPGs to mention. It's my hope to start an online campaign in sha-Artan in July as a way to develop the setting. Patrons will have first claim on spots in the campaign, if they're interested. Even if you're not, this will be the exclusive spot for previews of the setting, including artwork.
