Yeah that was shocking 😲

Josh Read

Hahaha! Funny how you said I am getting good and then I royally fudged up the last one 🤣🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Right? These are always fun! 🤗✨️

Mandy Cane Lane

You was way off Jeffrey! Mandy is full of surprises 🤪

AWR93

Not opposed to a spinkling of WILTY here and there always solid entertainment and reaction.

Gray

We have actually discussed this before and I believe it was revealed that his first name was Glut, Mr Glut tony. You may have been on a hot air balloon ride that day and missed it 🤷‍♂️.

Stevus

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DERrcrFS1-_/?igsh=MTc5a3I3MWVhNGlvaQ== Well hello stranger. I cant believe youve not posted since last year!! The link is certainly you buying things for your new home 🏡 🤣🤣 Good old wilty 🤗 you are getting good at these. I think they are still casting the Harry Potter show so it won't be out for ages. I'll most likely watch it but I'm not fussed really. I agree they should do original things and not badly remake everything. Oh and your ice cream cornflakes idea is awsome 😀

Josh Read

As is so often the case with these reaction videos, Kellogg's Frosties (or Kellogg's Frosted Flakes as an American would and did say) came up as a topic of discussion (during the 'What is a Flake?' section). As MCL (Mandy Cane Lane) didn't mention it during the video, I thought I should make it clear, in case of any doubt, that when it comes to Tony the Tiger, Tony is in fact his family name and not his given name. We don't know what Tony the Tiger's given name is. We do know that his mother is called Mama Tony though. He also has a son called Tony Junior. It's not clear, to me at least, why his son isn't called Junior Tony but I don't feel it's up to me to explain or defend the naming choices made. My only role is to report the facts as I find them and I think I have successfully done that. I'm happy to answer any questions but I know this can be a contentious and controversial subject matter so I may not be able to reply to them all.

Baboons are terrifying. When I was about eight or nine years old I went to a safari park with my mum, aunt and my brother. The car broke down in the middle of the Baboon area. My aunt stupidly got out of the car to lift up the bonnet (hood), but then a staff member started screaming over the tannoy, "GET BACK IN YOUR CAR!". The Baboons started swarming the car so my aunt had to start honking the horn for the staff to come and scare them off.

I like that the line you draw between merely enjoying something and being an obsessive maniac about it is mug ownership.

David Butler

Not really, though part of the reason I don't need to drive is because I've worked from home as an artist for 15 years so I guess I get "cool" points for that to balance it out.

Podey Williams

Hahah. Properly educated british people don't even know how to change their windscreen wipers. 🤣 Or use an iron.

Benjamin Taylor-Yates

July 2026 probably.

Jeffrey44

Did being unable to drive ever hinder your ability to attract the birds? Please note that although I am making an assumption that you are a heterosexual gentleman, I also acknowledge that you might not be. Also, I am using the term 'birds' to mean women.

Jeffrey44

I put off watching as I figured she would watch it at some point

Danny

Nice one Danny, it was a good epsiode!

AWR93

I sent her this video from my secret sources that get things from random undisclosed sources. The upload of this episode on YouTube is low quality and the dub is messed up. So I sourced it elsewhere. I sent it her about 6 months ago, so I forget specifically where I got it

Danny

I just sent her this years christmas WILTY👍

Danny

Every properly educated British person spells television programme in the way that I have spelt (or spelled as an American would say) it here.

Jeffrey44

Ted Lasso (this is not to say American comedies are bad, 30 Rock is perfect imo)

Sean Riley

@Sean Riley, the important thing is not if you watch the chinless fox strangling twats on Downton Abbey, simply if you have heard of Downton Abbey. I expect you have.

Jeffrey44

What is the other American show you'd be happy to watch an American react to?

Jeffrey44

Excuse me Danny, with all due respect, I'm going to have to ask you to reconsider your response. I will explain why. No British television programme was ever made in 480p. This is from 2012 so it's either going to be 625i or 1080i depending on when WILTY moved to HD production. It's clearly an official BBC sanctioned source as the BBC logo stays on screen in the same place, even when the programme itself is shrunk down and, as previously mentioned, it promotes BBC iPlayer at the end. I also noticed that the logo in the corner and the one on the screen promoting BBC iPlayer is the current BBC logo that was not the logo in use in 2012 so I suspect this is a service that either MCL (Mandy Cane Lane) is using natively or someone has screen recorded their use of the service sometime after 2021 (when the BBC logo was changed to the current one). I still hope we find out what that service is. I'm very curious to know.

Jeffrey44

It would have been an online remastered source due to the high picture quality. Episodes of this age are often 480p or less and there is no advertising voiceover at the end for the next show. Probably ripped from an iplayer or something

Danny

Am British and I don't watch those chinless fox strangling twats either

Sean Riley

You'd do well to bear in mind the name Armando Iannucci, he's behind or involved in many great comedies including one of the only two American shows I'd be happy to watch an American react to (Veep)

Sean Riley

Any time I've seen Americans visit the UK, they usually mention Downton Abbey or Harry Potter when describing buildings or areas. Bridgerton is kind of its replacement for posh British period drama.

Danny

In the opening titles for this episode, David Mitchell doesn't have a beard but in the episode itself he does. This must be the first bearded series. I wonder if the titles were updated for series 7.

Jeffrey44

What was the source of this episode? Which service shrinks the picture down when the credits start and puts it on an orange background? I did think it might have been Britbox or similar but then it promoted BBC iPlayer at the end, which is a UK only (and possibly Ireland in a limited way) service, so now I'm confused. Please explain.

Jeffrey44

We're not french either. I've never seen it spelt like that besides leaflets at concerts and conventions. 🙃🤣

Benjamin Taylor-Yates

"Programme" please, Ben. We are NOT American.

Jeffrey44

I believe The Simpsons did a parody of it too, so it must be somewhat known to an American audience. MCL (Mandy Cane Lane) hasn't heard of it, not because of her American heritage but due to normal ignorance that can effect anyone of any nationality at anytime.

Jeffrey44

Our old sunroof totally opened like that! And I can't drive, either, mostly because I’ve never been into cars and I kinda like going on trains and stuff so I’ve never needed to.

Podey Williams

A Flake is a highly engineered piece of quality chocolate, the process for making one takes specialised machines only made by Cadbury and does something to give it it's ultra crumbly and cooling velvety taste. I don't think Cadbury have sold the rights to anyone internationally due to the process and machinery. NOT FOR THE LIKES OF YOUUUUU ! :) twig chocolate she said !! huff. watch some Flake ads. like we had to.

emu cat

Yeah our summer is basically as warm as your winter, so almost always duvets. But for only a rare few weeks where its hot enough where you'll need to sleep under a sheet. A flake is really thinly layered so it crumbles when you bite it, but when in an ice cream it freezes really fast. Nice to see WILTY again. tyvm.🙂

.

Good to see one of these again. Your lighting and background are looking great in this video. I wonder what new series we'll have next?

John George

The "this is my" , David's chair and the baboon story are all clips on YouTube. So I figure you can use those. The Jack Whitehall bed story clip is on there too, but it's an official BBC upload, so not sure if that's allowed

Danny

A Winter tog duvet in the UK is 13.5, 15 or 18 tog . Summer tog can be 2.5,4.5 or 7.5. For comparison, a fleece blanket is often round 1.7 to 3 tog

Danny

The show was Downton Abbey, probably one of the most famous TV shows in modern times. It's a period drama with posh people in a big country house

Danny

Brasso is a kind of metal polish, mostly used on brass (hence the name) and copper. Armando Iannucci has won a ton of awards basically and they keep giving him little trophies. (I'm never usually early enough to the video to be one of the people that explains things so this is fun for me 🤗)

DriveIn

Woop woop. been ages since a WILTY. The woman in the Shining was famously said to have been purposely terrified and freaked out on set to put her in the frame of mind to be terrified and jumpy. It messed her up supposedly

Danny

Yay WILTY. With the Harry Potter thing i recently saw they had an open casting call for the kids, so not even started filming yet. I'm kinda feeling similar to you on the whole remakes thing. Originality is dead. But I do remember people complaining that the films didnt have their favorite moments from the books (because would have been like a 10 hour movie if they included everything), so maybe it will work better as a series.

Ajayrious

I'm sure Jim was in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One, uncredited, sat around the table in the Malfoy's as a death eater. On set with his real wife Imelda Staunton, Dolores Umbridge.

littlewazer

Yeah exactly right. It would only open a crack diagonally at the back when open in the opposite direction . I didn’t know I was considered posh. I really wasn’t from my pov. Lol

Alex W

Mate, being forced to read or listen to it would've been even worse. I wish I'd told her I was done after the first movie.. that's 12 hours of my life I'll never get back

James Aston

Loved this program. Benji's FTW!!! 😄 You asked about duvets and summer etc. yeah we do rotate between a lighter duvet and heavier duvet for hot and cold times. Me personally tho, cos my flat's quite small and warm: I have my window open all year round but in summer i just lay on top of the coverings cos it gets really warm and during winter I just wear a thermal cotton t-shirt. Colds better for falling asleep but having a t-shirt makes it more comfortable to get up on cold mornings and also removes that chill factor from putting on a fresh cold shirt. Also Mandy, yes a Flake is a chocolate bar. We need to send you some donations for one of those table top bug zapper lanterns. On that matter, did you sort out that payment fiasco with your brother and the bank?

Benjamin Taylor-Yates

Having thought about it some more, I do recall seeing them on TV, turning one direction would slide it back, and the other would lift it up or something?

irreverend

I would certainly leave if a shop assistant said "amaze balls" and "well jel" to me. I might stay if they were on the phone, although I'd probably leave if they were on the phone whilst I was asking them something. I do detest all that silly The Only Way Is Essex slang. Thinking about it, I'm not a huge fan of slang which was contemporary to my childhood either

irreverend

I never liked Potter, couldn't understand the hype, it was clearly a children's book but was inexplicably popular with older people. When I was 19 my girlfriend tried to force me to read one by making me promise to listen to her audiobook copy of the first book. I managed a chapter and told her I wasn't going to finish it. If I wanted to read fantasy I'd grab me some Terry Pratchett.

irreverend

A double flake ice cream is an ice cream with 2 flakes stuck in it as opposed to the usual 1. Look up Cadbury Flake if you're unfamiliar and you'll see what he means. It's a crumbly flaky stick of chocolate. EDIT: oh you looked it up :)

irreverend

I'm 40 and you were posh if your car had a sunroof :P So I don't actually remember the hand crank ones, only the side windows. Ah and the ashtrays in the doors.

irreverend

Agreed. I was 13 when the first movie came out so I was a little too old for it, but my ex girlfriend made me sit and watch them over the course of a month. I wanted to punch his smug wizarding face in by the end of it.

James Aston

TOG is a measure of thermal resistivity, 13.5 tog is a very thick duvet for winter. A lighter one for use in summer is common, but he's saying he has two different sized ones in the duvet cover and just removes one in the summer.

irreverend

WILTY returns! 🥳 I love seeing Mandy play along with these and catsdown!! There was a good episode of WILTY that aired on Christmas last week that had Jimmy Carr on, would be a good one to add to the list. On the flake chocolate, it is made by Cadbury and its slogan was “Only the crumbliest, flakiest chocolate, tastes like chocolate never tasted before”. It is one of those chocolates that just melt in your mouth! In the summer, Me and my brother would get one of these nearly every day after school 🤣 https://ibb.co/gZ0LRBx Also on your outro, i think you got a perfect score in the last episode you did with big narstie and the ukabong.. so your actually on a roll! 💪

AWR93

Dude I'm 37 and that I still feel like I'm in my mid 20s, especially physically, which is great because all my friends say they are worn out. The big difference is they've all got kids. Sucks to be them 🤷‍♂️

James Aston

Wait, was that an electric fly swatter for that mosquito? \o/ I hope that was because of my suggestion :)

irreverend

Hot take: Harry Potter was never good, even before it came out what kind of human trash Rowling is. It's one of the most overrated book/movie of all time and there's a reason it's not really popular with children, but just with the people who grew up on them.

DahDutcher

I feel I’m really old that I do remember crank opening sunroofs. Am I really that old. Lol

Alex W

From Jack Whitehalls story, a Round Robin is a type of Christmas card with a letter, in where people describe what happened to them that year

Carl-Fredrik L

Hi Mandy! Happy new year to you and everyone. I really do recommend that you watch at least 1 episode of Blackadder 1, just so you can see for yourself if you like it. I recommend episode 4 "The Queen of Spain's Beard" as it has some guest appearances that you'll love.

Tony Mingoia

Happy new year everyone btw
