Your reaction on this was one great Mandy. The whole thing about people stuck up themselves or in their phones is spot on. I'm allergic to cats too yet I feed stay ones and buy cat food. What a strange life. :) Didn't even spot Sian Gibson until you mentioned it. I thought you said Kylie and I thought of Minogue, not Kayleigh. :) So weird to see her without all that hair. :)

I do appreciated your faith, and I'm not ashamed to show my answers so; A) Much as I'd love nothing more, I doubt it's what she wants right now when there's so much going on in her life. There are boundaries to be respected and she's made that clear. I appreciate her no matter what our disposition and the fact that she can bring joy into my life is always gonna be enough. B) True. Women live in a different world than us. They see it in many more colours. And we don't realise how shitty and terrifying it is for them. I mean men usually don't go out intending to be creepy, they just don't know any better. Everything I know about talking to Mandy and women is as a result of my own mistakes. Making girls feel uncomfortable and letting my heart push me into making stupid and embarrassing decisions. You just have to listen to them. That's it. No psych A-level needed. And never forget that at the end of the day, they're just a normal person trying to get by, like me. They don't mind being talked to, they do mind when you don't think before doing so. I mean romance happens here and there but yeah. I've got the same issue. I never have any time, I'm petrified of being called a creep, I've no idea how to approach girls and to be honest, their expectations don't help. I find it's just better to do stuff rather than actively trying to meet a partner. Just go do interesting hobbies and explore the world and you'll meet interesting people as you go. The third place is technically the internet now Discord, Xbox, Dating apps, granted it's fucking stupid but I've seen plenty of people who have met over games or Facebook or whatever, I don't like that crap, and as you've mentioned people have changed and now most people don't even want a relationship, most people who use dating apps don't want to settle for one thing they always think they can do better, the dating scene is definitely dead at the moment

Love this show, just gets better and better. Agree on Potter, you feel sorry for him at some stages, but he is a manipulator, especially of Jerry. If you get the chance, there's a sort of mockumentary episode, called 'That Peter Kay Thing: In the Club', which covers the time of Potter's first club and gives you a backstory on his character, whch features pretty much everyone who's in the show. Think it was filmed about two years before Phoenix Nights. Beverley said 'you never ran over my foot that night at the club' on the waterbed. Also, regarding the karaoke scene, Beverley crying was not originally meant to happen, but the actress who played her was geniunely moved by the song, so it was kept in.

They were a big novelty thing, I was born in '96 but I remember seeing them as a kid. Also another fact again from Peter on the DVD commentary about this scene is that this was someones (he doesn't say who's) living room that they filmed in and they had only one take because they had to rush and leave the house, so that may have beenthe house owners Elvis clock.

Even in the 90s only the most confident men who had the gift of the gab as we say would have the courage to try to chat up a woman on her own. The way I remember it was groups of lads and groups of girls go to pub and one of the confident ones, quite often a girl got the groups interacting. If anyone made a connection they might arrange to meet again, or disappear to enjoy other activities.

Also Peter Kays claims on the DVD commentary that when Brian is singing Wind Beneath My Wheels, Jo Enright actually cried from hearing him sing and that wasn't scripted.

When Brian Potter and Jerry St. Clair were in the lavatory and Potter said "I'm going to give her a pearl necklace", "I'm going to surprise her", St. Clair humourously pretended to misunderstood what Brian meant, he imagined that Brian was planning to ejaculate and deposite seman over Beverley's décolletage. In case you don't know, when a gentleman does that to (or for) a lady, it is also known as "giving a pearl necklace". You can probably understand why, the seman could be said to look like pearls and the area covered by it would be the same as where a pearl necklace would be worn. Her name was Beverly Hilscopto. Although we don't hear her surname pronounced in this episode, I believe we should assume that her name is a homophone of the name of the popular American motion picture Beverly Hills Cop II.

I'm glad you paused on the package that Beverly sent back Mandy, because I've seen this dozens of times and never noticed that joke before. Her name is Beverly Hilscopto. Which is supposed to sound like "Beverly Hills Cop 2". That's a very silly joke that only the eagle-eyed would notice. 🤣 When Beverly is confessing to Brian, the dialogue you missed was "You never ran over my foot in the club that night". And a little bit of trivia: The woman that tells Les to piss off when he sidles up to her and says "I'm horny. Horny, horny, horny." is, I believe, Peter Kay's real-life wife. I must've heard that in the DVD cast commentary which is full of interesting insights.
