Sooooo, 5 months later.... There are many shops in certain areas of the UK that sell baseball bats - but have never sold a single baseball ball ;-) We are aware of '3 strikes and you are out' from US movies etc, but I'm not sure how many Brits are aware of the phrase's origins.

BobSandwiches

I dunno why but for me the glove takes you from a 17 outta 10 to 170 outta 10 oh the hot and sexy scale 😅

Hiya Mandy! 4:30 Mandy: “No Capes!” Just think of all the office-related calamities! 😅 7:26 Brent: “Spend it on whatever you like, one of those little blue cars, or whatever” 😆 I haven’t seen one of those cars in decades! https://www.friarsmotorcompany.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/harper-mk12-invacar-12.jpg 16:00 Joyous! Stephen Merchant’s voice was very hoarse there 23:00 “3 strikes and you’re out?” Rounders, although released to baseball, doesn’t have a strike system, so this phrase is more likely an American cultural influence - we’ve adopted a strike system for various types of offences. There’s no strikes in cricket either. The bowler bowls, and either the bowl doesn’t count, and it’s repeated, or the batsman hits the ball, or the batsman decides not to hit it, at his peril - since the batsman risks being bowled out if the ball eventually hits the wooden stumps behind him. Baseball’s popular enough I played it in school, although I’ve played rounders just as much in school too. 27:34 Tim* pays the kissing toll… and Dawn reveals her cards 😆 Come on! That’s gotta be the *only* reason she endured the undignified kissing game 💋 Mandy: “I think they should have gone for the cheek” on the contrary! That wouldn’t leave a lasting impression now, would it? See the effect it had on little ol’ confused Tim* in the next scene? He practically rejected his GF’s advances. 30:20 Not quite the golden parachute, redundancy packages can still be a sweet deal for employees, certainly not a stain on their employment history. The legal minimum payoff is 1 weeks pay for every year of service at the company, and they said his package would be generous. Well, that's what she said 🤣 Taking photos of a £120 cheque for the local rag 😀 It’s not half as awkward as I remember, actually most of the awkward scenes are just long silences where obviously the director’s told everybody not to react to David Brent, and just sit or stand there sombrely. Like in other scenes where *you* Mandy scream that people are not helping him, deliberately remaining inactive, and making it worse, the awkwardness is once again portrayed by the non-reaction, the tumbleweed ghost-town of everyone else 😳🤣 (especially Brent’s chicken outfit exit) The chicken / flamingo outfit - there’s always next halloween, you have the skills, make it! 🤣 Thanks Mandy G

𝙶𝚊𝚛𝚢 𝙼𝚘𝚛𝚐𝚊𝚗

Hahaha, the whole costume is just brilliant!

Mandy Cane Lane

Thank you for the costume reminder! Haha, you know me well! 😃🤗 And I am learning to LOVE Stephen Merchant! Can't wait for more XFM!! 🙌🏻

Mandy Cane Lane

david tapping his temples with the ostrich beak might be my favorite moment in the Office

Rikhard Henrik Rodrigues Neto

Well that was just adorable, seeing you hard-core fangirling over Stephen Merchant. I don't think he gets much of that so good on ya, representing the oft underappreciated team Merchant. Regarding the popularity of Baseball, I'm sure someone from the UK will have responded about over there, but in Oz everyone has a cricket bat. They're much thicker and heavier than a Baseball bat. A bit slower to swing but really packs a whollop. Lastly, I also love those costumes (Brent riding the bird, in case you forgot). I've seen a few different versions over the years but can't remember any specifics, so that was... something. Well, it's been a pleasure as always. Thankyou you wonderful person you. 🙏🤗 ps. Love the fishnet gloves. Very you.

Feathers McGraw

Ahh the 120 Days of Christmas Strikes Again! I'm sure you will love it especially the ending. My Birthday was Fab and have realised I have rejoined under my other account name for some reason... Anyway... enjoy all that good stuff and hope we get some more Peep Show soon too. Enter the Dobz! YAY!

Cash Back

Lmao!!😂😂

Mandy Cane Lane

Although baseball isn't popular, you'll find that sporting goods stores in some of the rougher areas do sell a lot of bats. Not many balls though, I'm not convinced that all the buyers know the rules...

Z is for Zed

Please do not watch the film. Stephen Merchant wasn't involved and it's awful.

Ben

Hahaha! Welcome back!! 🌈🤗 How was your Birthday Break?? Also, I plan to watch them immediately after the last episode. If I leave them for later I will forget 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Hello Hello Again Lovely Mandy of Cane Lane, back again to catch up with your Pat content after my Birthday Break and looks like there was a late present for me. Loved your reaction to seeing Steve's Cameo and can't wait for the final episode (I assume you will be watching the Christmas Special nearer the big day yes?) Hope you are well and happy to be back again in your inner world of fun and laughter...ok that's it....TA DAAAAA.

The British actually invented Baseball but It never became popular over here and then America adopted as one of their main sports.

JokerDanny

No worries Mandy! And on Borat, much of the film features unscripted vignettes of Borat interviewing and interacting with real-life Americans who believe he is a foreigner with little or no understanding of American customs leading to crazy funny and shocking moments! 😅

AWR93

Interesting! Wasn't eveb aware Borat had a film! All noted AWR93! 🤗

Mandy Cane Lane

Lol, noted Dairychoco! 🤗🤗

Mandy Cane Lane

Interesting. Is baseball still a thing?

Mandy Cane Lane

I have never heard of any of those things! But in case you were wondering: 🤪 https://youtu.be/7wowYBN-ztM?si=Vg7S808ZO2ldANAo

Mandy Cane Lane

Well that is wonderful to hear! My brother used to keep one by his bed, never had to use it either. I deeply hope you never have to. Stay safe Lee! 🙌🏻🤗🌻

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha! I feel like that Leonardo DiCaprio gif pointing at the TV every time. 🤣🤣🤣 I just get excited, lol. The dancing scene was awesome 🤪

Mandy Cane Lane

Yeah, Sacha Baron Cohen! Both characters are “trolls” where the people he films with don’t know that he’s playing a character and often leaves the guests shocked by displaying a mixture of uninformed political incorrectness, or getting the guests to agree to some shocking inaccuracy or insult. The Ali G character has so many clips on YouTube that people react to and usually do pretty well! If I were to recommend you watch one to see how it works it would be “Ali G Show - Religion | Uncensored”. Also if you haven’t seen the Borat 2006 movie, I’d love to see you add it to your recommendations!

AWR93

Oh, you got me curious!! 🤪🤣🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Well that was fun to read! 🤣🤣🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Haha! It was spoiled, but I didn't know when to expect him! Honestly figured he came up in the specials 🤪😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Heard of Borat, will recognize him if I see him. Have been told Ali G is the same actor 😃

Mandy Cane Lane

if I'm being honest I did have a little tear in my eye 🥹

James Aston

Cricket is different because you have stumps to protect and the bowler has different ways of getting out the batter. The bowler throws the ball 6 times at him (6 bowled balls is called 1 over), and the batter has to get as many points as possible in 1 over. But if it hits the stumps behind the batter, then the batter is out. He is also out if it hits his legs or if the ball is caught. The batter gets points running between the stump he is guarding and the stump the bowler is at, but he doesn't have to run. If the ball hits the boundary, it counts as 4 runs. If it goes over the boundary you 6, the best score

Danny

Oh brilliant MH, thank you!! 🌈🌻🤗

Mandy Cane Lane

SPEAKING OF PILLSBURY DOUGHBOY on the EARLY EARLY XFM (pre-karl) ricky and steve have like a 30 minute argument about the pillsbury doughboy because steven had never heard of it, series 0 xfm (dont watch it before series 1-5 its really scuffed lol)

Dairychoco

I am a complete sucker for romance and always will be!! 😭😭😭

Mandy Cane Lane

Awesome, thank you Danny! 🤗

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha, never seen anything other than pics!! 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Excellent! Funny how these shows pull the story together ending them with Specials. 🤪

Mandy Cane Lane

He saved me from crying on Extras! Hahaha. Such a waste to have him there and not give him more screen time!

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohh, does Cricket have "3 strikes, your out"? 🤓

Mandy Cane Lane

Oh, well, have you seen it? Was it any good?

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahahaha! I like those 70's disco suits, don't want to disrespect 🤣🤪

Mandy Cane Lane

Lol, it was indeed a moment! 🤣🤣🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

baseball originated from England and ireland. as did Rugby (american football)

TheHigh

for a minute there i thought you know what Spoilsbury Toast Boy was lol , didn't know there was the thing you said about dough boy or something :P love me some David firth , he's a hidden national treasure haha (maybe you have heard of salad fingers before? or burnt face man xD) , great reaction as always!

TheHigh

Baseball isn't huge here but we have used the phrase for a long time to denote you're running out of chances. I do have a bat though near my front door. Never needed to use it in the 14 years I've lived here though.

Lee Dellbridge

I rewatched Life on the Road the other day, I really love it, I know plenty didn't but its a fun film, hope Mandy watches it!

Michael Harrop

Finally the dance scene from Brent. Was waiting for that moment. Yeah Steve (or the Ogg Monster), has said that without his glasses, he can't see anything. So good on him for doing this scene. Whilst Steve would have made a good Gareth, I think it's a great to see the Gareth we do have. I wish Steve had been in the show though. Another great episode and your reaction to Steve's coming into the show was priceless. Just like when you saw Karl on Extra's :)

Rusty Dog

1 episode, *2* specials, some miscellaneous but related clips and perhaps the film (or movie as an American would say) too.

Jeffrey44

1 episode and the special left! And they're both fantastic, been waiting for your reaction to a scene in the next episode since you started this!

Michael Harrop

I don't know what it is about it, but that scene where Keith points out the difference between American English and British English is one of my favourite (or favorite as an American would say). Being made redundant is not the same as being sacked (or fired as an American would say). It means that your role is no longer required, not that you personally have done something wrong. There are laws around it, the company have to give you a redundancy package (or severance pay as an American would say) and if Wernham Hogg (or Dunder Mifflin as an American would say) decided that they no longer needed a manager in the Slough branch, the law says they would have to wait a certain length of time before they could change their mind and employ someone else in the same role. In this case, they ARE using it to get rid of David Brent but everyone wins really, Brent gets a "generous redundancy package" and doesn't get a negative entry on his curriculum vitae (CV, or résumé as an American would say) and Wernham Hogg (or Dunder Mifflin as an American would say) get rid of him in the most efficient way for everyone. When it comes to sport (or sports as an American would say), baseball isn't that popular in the UK but I think most British people (or limeys as an American would say) would know that the phrase "Three strikes..." derives from baseball and even if they didn't, they would understand the meaning from context. Remember, fanny's your arse (or ass as an American would say), not your minge (or pudendum as an American would say). Wise words that I still live by today.

Jeffrey44

The guy in yellow outfit is meant to be Ali G (which i don't like him) but Sasha Cohen is good as Borat and other characters.

Industrialist2015ofUk

Im so glad no one spoiled for you, the fact that Steve Merchant was in the Office! I tried real hard to restrain myself 🤣 To answer your question about Baseball, all i know is it originates from Rounders, which is British...but then again loads of american things came from England, so meh *shrugs. I prefer Tennis to all other sports

Industrialist2015ofUk

The oggmonster!! Loved your reaction to seeing Steve 😆 also Mandy, have you never seen Ali G or Borat?

AWR93

Fun little moment during David's dance is that the actress of Rachel is unable to keep a straight face and breaks into laughter at 13:57 of this reaction video. She covers her mouth with her hand to stop laughing and tries to hide her face behind Tim while the camera quickly pans down lower to hide her face. And as others have said. Keith's outfit is Ali G, a character created by Sacha Baron Cohen. Ali G could be explained as a white guy who is from the suburbs and loving family, but pretends to be "from the hood" and acts like he is a black guy. He was extremly popular character in the early 2000's before he did Borat etc. If you feel like you want to check out something with Ali G, i recommend to start with a thing he did for Comic Relief in 2001. Ali G interviews David Beckham and Victoria Beckham https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIic9_ZhyC8 A lot of reaction channels have done this video, so you should be able to upload it to Youtube if you wish.

MH

That was great and was cute how your face lit up when Neil & Rachel started dancing 🤗 I reckon you’re a sucker for romance 😋 Great reactions again thanks Mandy 🤗

MarkCity10

The "person riding a bird" costume was made popular by British comedian Bernie Clifton, that is his gimmick. He uses an ostrich . Heres a lil 3 minute video if you want to react to him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwmrmL-A6tk

Danny

The yellow outfit was Ali G! , one of Sacha Baron Cohens characters. Who also did Borat and Bruno. His catchphrase is Booyakasha! Albeit with more enthusiasm than done here 😅

Danny

After the last episode in the series, episode 6, comes 2 Christmas specials. The first is about 45 minutes and the 2nd is a lil bit longer round 50 minutes

Danny

I loved your response to seeing Steve arrive 🤗 I feel exactly the same, I wish he was in The Office as a regular character, he was my favourite thing in Extras.

James Aston

Baseball is actually also huge in Japan. Baseball is based on the British game Rounders , which has been around like 500 years. Rounders does have professional leagues but it's not popular, it's more of a pass time or something to play at school. Like you wouldn't see it on TV. Baseball I've never seen here. Cricket is the main bat & ball game

Danny

Stephen had no glasses in a serious role, based on a true story, a few years ago playing a serial killer. Its 3 roughly hour long episodes. Called "Four Lives". About a man who killed 4 gay men

Danny

Mandy, you have the Liga Argentina de Béisbol, well according to Google. The UK does have a league but I couldn't tell you anything about it. We use a lot of American idioms in the UK as American TV shows have always been big here. Also, I was waiting for a Disco Stu reference I was disappointed 😆Thanks for the video and the 2pm time slot.🤗

𝑭𝒆𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒚 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆

That whole dancing scene is always in any kind of poll of the "top 10 most memorable British comedy moments"
