HOT FUZZ - Movie Reaction!

Comments

He realised he was wrong and they were in fact way worse than he believed.

One thing that doesnt make sense to me in this film (spoiler) is If Danny thought the NWA were only "slapping people on the wrist and sending them on their way", then why did he pretend to stab him?

Rude

Wayne King

That is actually a great idea! ๐Ÿค—

Mandy Cane Lane

Oh cool I didn't notice this, looking forward to watching! Hope you do Shaun of the Dead for Halloween :P

Joeb Rogers

Are you gonna watch the other 2 movies?๐Ÿฅบ

Wayne King

Don't think I've ever seen it ๐Ÿ˜ณ I'll watch it later today, it's 2 in the morning and I'm nearly home from the football ๐Ÿ˜…

So glad you enjoyed! Will do soon! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค—

Oh. I can Really recommend the spoof show "Garth Marenghi's Dark Place", with Richard Ayoade. Its a hilarious parody of badly acted eighties horror and a mockumentary. Bc u were talking about -was it Indian ? - soaps, where an actor might fall down the stairs for 15min. This show is over the top too. Another great show is The Mighty Boosh, with Noel Fielding

Carl-Fredrik L

This was really fun! It's been a good 15 years since I've seen this. One of the tightest comedies ever made. You should do the other two in the trilogy!

GrandLineReview

Interesting Steve. I will look it up and add it to my infinite list ๐Ÿค—

Watching this again reminded me of a show you may want to add to your undoubtedly large list of things to watch, a show called "A Touch of Cloth" (written by Charlie Brooker, who wrote black mirror). It's a heavily pun oriented detective comedy type show, the episodes are around 45mins each if I remember correct, and I think there are only 6 of them, 2 per "story"

TrickUpMySteve

They always send at least 4 officers to scenes like this. If they sent 3 they wouldn't have enough pairs of handcuffs for the arachnid.

Mandy Mandy Mandy! They mentioned SO19, the armed response unit, at the beginning there. I have a story about them. I live in a sleepy little village in Surrey in which there is practically no crime, in fact there isn't even a police station. Well, I used to manage a games shop there, and one day, I was notified that the burglar alarm had gone off, just before 8am, so I had to rush in to work slightly earlier than usual. No burglar is going to break in at 8am, so I assumed it was a false alarm. Never-the-less, company policy dictates that in such circumstances, we must only enter the premises accompanied by police, so I called them on the way and asked them to meet me there. Given that we don't have a police station, I thought I'd be waiting a while, but by chance, a police unit was passing through the area and was able to respond immediately. It was SO19. Five or six very serious, very intimidating officers, armed with submachine guns. There was no sign of a break-in, so I had to unlock the door as usual, at which point they asked me to stand back as they swept the building. What you're imagining is exactly how it went down, minus the flashbangs. Well there was no-one there and no sign of a disturbance, except for a spider in one corner of the room, who was busy building a web, right in front of the motion sensor. The lead officer asked if I would like them to escort the spider from the premises before they stand down. Already thoroughly emasculated, I felt my manhood would have shrivelled away completely had I needed them to do that, so I declined in favour of handling the beast myself. ๐Ÿ˜… It remains the only time I have ever encountered SO19. In fact, though 20 years ago, probably the last time I saw a police officer of any stripe in my village. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This was such a cool unexpected surprise to watch, these films are fantastic, love the snappy way they're filmed and the transitions are super creative. Hope you can get round to seeing Shaun of the Dead and Worlds End eventually too!

SynphamyMusic

I really enjoyed this reaction, I love this film and the other stuff they've done together. It's always nice to see someone enjoy and be enthusiastic about a film you love.

Kev

Actually that word you referred to isn't that bad in England or Australia, depending on context. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of it but I'm from a posh area, and we won't use it with our mums, or our bosses, or at a dinner party or anything, but you'll hear it on the street pretty commonly here in Sydney and I understand that's the case in England as well. Traditionally it's supposed to be America where it's the worst thing you can say. I don't know about England, but in Aus people actually use it to compliment people half the time; if you're a sickc*t, that's a good thing. Great reaction Mandy! I forgot how much I actually love this movie.

Alexander Brown

Well.. This was unexpected :) I would never have chosen to watch this myself, but you made it good entertainment anyway. Movie night was fun! But the naval mine going off at the end there.. I didn't like it. Didn't fit in. But I guess they wanted to go out with a big bang with unrealistic results :)

Terje Flรฅgan

Great suprise to see you react to this. When you are ready, i think Shaun of the Dead would be the best choice for the next movie of the "Cornetto trilogy", as it's the one that started it. Not sure how much people have explained about the trilogy before, but as you mentioned they aren't really connected in the story or characters. Edgar Wright is the director for all three movies and he and Simon Pegg(sergeant Angel) are the writers. Nick Frost(Danny) is the second lead in all of the movies. There are a lot of the same actors appearing in all of the movies in some capacity and the writing and directing feature some similar aspects. The theme of each movie is paroding a popular genre of movies at the time of release and it features many quips from those genres. The writing is high quality and hilarious, but the best thing is Edgar's creative style of directing that is very engaging. The movies are also great on a rewatch, as you can pick-up a lot things you miss and foreshadowing details from the script when you know how the story goes.

MH

The bit you picked up on with the red lighting was like that because it was a homage to a famous scene in the movie Goodfellas which is similarly lit in red. Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are all massive movie geeks and their work together is crammed full of homages and sight gags that reference other movies or TV shows, some obvious and others very subtle. There's a web page somewhere that lists each one in Hot Fuzz.

Spacedone

The subtitles were in American English. It put me right off.

I abbreviated Mandy's Monthly Movie in my head, and now I can't stop thinking M,M 'N' M do do do do do, think I need an early night lol.

A flatfoot is slang for a policeman officer. Usually a low rank copper because of all the walking they do on the beat. Really enjoyed the film and the stories thanks again. Maybe it could be a monthly thing, Mandy's Monthly Movie ๐Ÿคฃ

What a treat. Bill Bailey acted in a sitcom called Spaced with the main 2 guys in this, and I think he gave the main main guy his first TV gig, in his comedy show way back before he went bald. I think this film captures certain aspects of British (specifically English and Welsh) life better than any other movie outside of maybe Children of Men, and is much funnier in how it deals with it.

Kirk Deighton

and then the IT crowd with Richard Ayoade and Chris O Dowd (Of "Bridesmaids" fame)

Carl-Fredrik L

U didnt know Bill Bailey acted?? You REALLY need to see the show Black Books!!!

Happy birthday Danny, have a good one fella.
