Hi Mandy, great reaction. I'm surprised that David says "Scon" is posh and maybe it is in some places, but if I walked to a Cafe near me and said "give us a scon", no problem. But if I asked for a "Scone" I'd get the you're not from around here look lol. I live on the Bolton/Wigan border (I know that means nothing to you) if I drive 5 miles into Wigan the literal name of things change, It's mad. Just don't get people started on the Barm, Bread Roll, Bap debate 😂

David is right- "Scon" is the posher way of pronouncing "scone"! "Scohn" is the much more common pronunciation, many more people say it, so by default, it isn't posh. "Scohn" sounds posh to people who aren't posh. Similar to how most people believe "dessert" is posher than "pudding". In actuality, "dessert" has become so commonplace a way of referring to that sweet meal. Very working class people call it a variety of other things (often regional) and upper middle class call it a "sweet" or indeed "pudding". Good episode! Love Rhod Gilbert. I agree with you, Mandy, that the show at times doesn't have quite the same unpredictable spark that the earlier series have, David and Lee are fantastic but almost too much part of the much trodden comedy furniture now!
