Ricky does talk too fast sometimes eh? And he kinda mumbles, so I'm not surprised you don't pick up what he's saying on the odd occasion. An iconic moment in The Office is still to come (can't remember what ep it is), but I'll let you know after you've watched it. :) The start of the show I think is meant to look grey, dreary and mundane. I guess it's to highlight how office life can be. I've spent most of my life in offices so I can attest to some of that, but it wasn't like this place where no-one seems to actually get any work done. :)

Yeah a pie in a big round tin. You take the lid off and bake it in the tin, it has puff pastry on top of a pie filling. The quality of them has gone down big time in recent years

The episode was good, but I've gotta say, I'm loving 'those days' and considering you're practically still a baby at 30yo, I'd estimate you've got at least 50-60 more years of 'those days' to have, and I for one, look forward to it. The character Ricky said he appeared on the TV show Blockbusters. Blockbusters was an American gameshow. The British version ran for much longer than the American version though and keeps coming back every few years. The game is played with a team of two and a team of one. Ricky said he was on the team of one. This is interesting because one Stephen Merchant was a contestant on Blockbusters in real life. He was on the team of one. Pretty sure he had the question "Who sang 'The Only Way is up'?" just like the example given in this episode. It's on YouTube but isn't that interesting. Stephen Merchant was writing from experience in this episode. I bet he had a Hat FM too.

This episode has a special place in my heart as I was actually in the studio audience when it was recorded. The actor who plays Chris Finch was the nicest guy in real life, he spoke to the audience inbetween scenes and even let one woman listen to Hat FM during a break in recording. The quiz and office scenes had been recorded earlier and they were just played on a screen so the audience could react. We got to watch the shoe throwing scene live though. It was very funny. Good times.
