It was a similar concept to, and aired at the time as the original βThe Adams Familyβ. It was broadcast here in the UK in the 80s and maybe 90s, a fun early-evening comedy! The twist in Extras vs The Office is: in The Office, Ricky Gervaisβ character, the office manager, is the crazy one, everyone else is relatively normal and just reacting to him. In Extras he flipped it around, Ricky Gervais is the relatively normal one (believe it or not), and almost everyone else, including the guest stars, have issues. I was in a Jamie Dornan limited series called 'The Tourist' in which we spent 5-6 hrs filming a scene, of which only about 2 mins Max ended up on screen. It's really fascinating seeing everything that goes on behind the scenes.

2023-05-17 22:33:20 +0000 UTCI'm so happy you're doing Extras!! Ricky is a craftsman at writing comedy and he knows how to do cringe really well. There's some brilliant episodes to come, but I don't spoil anything. Ashley Jensen, who played Maggie, was brilliant in this and such a great sidekick in this series. Obviously The Office is Ricky's big one, but his series of Afterlife which combines sadness and humour so well, is also worth a watch. The nuances and subtleties of British Comedy are all here with Ricky's stuff. He's a master at it. Looking fwd to the next one !

2023-05-17 21:58:07 +0000 UTCThat's great news! π Yes that makes a lot of sense, and means you can enjoy a variety of things if the episode count is low. Ricky's stuff tended to be short (Office, Extras, Lifes too Short etc), perhaps taking into account classic stuff like Fawlty Towers having two seasons, and those 12 episodes still as funny as the day they were first aired - and the life of the show was never sucked out of it by going on too long. A quick top class show that finishes while at it's peak, rather than having 20 seasons and becomes boring haha.

Now that you are somewhat familiar with Ricky and Steve's work; the awkwardness, the social commentary. The show has a lot of great elements that I think will resonate with your sense of humour. I think the show got a bit of stick because it was less subtle than their previous work, the office. I hope you get around to watching that some time. This is the content that I am here for! =)

It's Mandys channel, she does what she likes and if I like it too ill stsy on. Bur I want be watching anything currently on pateron she is reacting too. So when she starts stuff that "I" start watching I then can justify the pateron cost.

Their original version of The Office is justifiably known as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, and so that's the one they're most associated with, but this show is hilarious too. Haven't watched Extras in a while so I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction.
