Simon Pegg and Steve Coogan were frequent collaborators. As are Rob Brydon and Pegg, more famously. Pegg was a part of one of the best Steve Coogan stand up shows ("The Man who thinks he's it") as well as guest starring in I'm Alan Partridge.

2023-06-20 15:54:28 +0000 UTCPeter Hook and Tony Wilson were the consultants on this and they felt considering the comic underlying's of this film they felt it would be in poor taste going in depth about Ian's epilepsy. I agree though control is amazing.

2023-05-10 22:18:32 +0000 UTCOh and the Hacienda was just paradise. In 88 no place existed with the same atmosphere.

2023-05-10 21:54:26 +0000 UTCBut the fist time it really got important was in the 80's when drugs met Acid House. And for the first time the company started making money - and then they lost is all.

2023-05-10 21:50:53 +0000 UTCFactory Records was legendary. Totally insane as a business but pretty much the most respected label ever. So many great records.

2023-05-10 21:37:55 +0000 UTCYou need to watch Control next. It’s the story of Ian Curtis from Joy Division and goes into more detail about why he killed himself. This film doesn’t even explain about his epilepsy.
2023-05-09 21:41:12 +0000 UTCSo glad you fully appreciated this and from my point of view Tony very definitely IS the central character in the story the fact he said he wasn't is kind of the point "He symbolised and crystallised freedom A King with no crown He left more than a million footprints All over this town" Check out the song "Tony Wilson said" by Badly Drawn Boy. The guy even has musicians writing songs about him

2023-04-30 22:24:15 +0000 UTCHave you guys seen: The boat that rocked?
2023-04-30 00:41:58 +0000 UTCHe restarted factory several times, he actually made more money once the label closed licensing the factory/hacienda name to various other labels etc. Peter hook said wilson died with 500k in personal wealth and millions in business, he actually left peter more money than his family because he left him the rights to the factory/hacienda name, peter has since opened a new hacienda (fac251 hacienda 2) in manchester in the old factory offices actually which is a very successful club.

2023-04-29 22:41:24 +0000 UTCTony Wilson didn't have that much disposable income, they just made terrible business decisions because they cared more about the music and aesthetics. Incidentally, Simon Pegg played the part of music writer Paul Morley and that scene really did happen in real life. Wilson asked Morley to come and see Curtis' body lying at rest because he knew that Morley at some point in the future would probably write a book about Joy Division. And years later he did.

2023-04-29 21:59:02 +0000 UTCIf you are wondering about the johnny Vegas credit, the pub that he co owned was used to substitute for the Russel club( the pub peter kaye's character owned) he actually camoed in one of the crowd scenes as well.

2023-04-29 21:10:05 +0000 UTCLoved this reaction guys ❤️ I have suggested this on your movie post already but I think you would really enjoy The Boat That Rocked. It features Nick Frost from Shaun of the Dead etc, Rhys Ifans from Twin Town and Philip Seymour Hoffman (RIP). It's a great movie, really funny and an awesome soundtrack too x
