I laughed at you guys saying there's a lot of conversations in bathrooms in the UK. I immediately think of this one and in The Inbetweeners with Jay's dad and Will being shoeless. The whole reason these scenes are put in the shows is because it's so jarring and cringe inducing

I wouldn't say us Brits are overly repressed about talking whilst having a piss. It's not like people are commonly going around sparking up conversations in the men's, but we're not as scared of it awakening homosexual urges as some people stateside seem to be. It's just played up in these shows for comedic awkwardness, which as you probably know by now, us Brits do love some awkward humour. Glad You're enjoying Peep show. the first person style can be a bit jarring at first, but it smooths out a bit by the second season, and the show really finds it's style.
