I believe the reason behind there only being 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers was that John Cleese had run out of ideas. He said himself that there are only two bits of the whole 12 episodes he himself thinks are funny, indicating his high standards. And it took him and Connie Booth (Polly the waitress and Cleese's by then ex-wife) four years after the first six episodes were made to come up with the second six episodes, and I don't think there was a deliberate decision at that point not to make more. I love your suggestion though that the hotel was shut down by the health inspectors, and think that should be retconned as the why the show ended.

I think it's be great to have something completely different to Peep Show as a contrast plus I can't wait to see how you both take it. It's probably the most British surreal comedy alongside Reeves and Mortimer and The Mighty Boosh in recent years and it's hilarious genius. P.S Don't forget there's an all regions DVD player waiting for you at your PO Box❤️
