You can use the patches to upgrade any version beginning with 0.8.3a1 to version 0.8.04a1, just make sure to get the right flavour (hi-res/compressed).
To use a patch, place the .exe file into the game’s root folder and launch it.

Save yourself
Go into the attic
Slap, then lollipop
