Lili's golden tears are referenced from Anne-Marie Zilberman painting of the woman crying golden tears. When I was an undergrad I constantly was inspired by Klimt's work. I would visit museums to see his pieces. What stuck to me the most was his golden era in which he spent so much time creating these paintings full of patterns and symbols all drenched in gold leaf.

Lili's Tears turn gold when she is in distress when she can no longer control her emotions. depending on the chaotic form she is in her tears can become overwhelming and can force others to cry in gold tears as well.

In my story golden tears represent fear and false clarity, blinded by the truth of reality. Lili is a strong woman yet she faces trails that can leave her beaten and exhausted. her generosity is her true enemy
