Resident Evil: Episode 17 - Shadow of the Sun

In desperate need for medical aid, Claire finds herself frantically searching for anything to heal her wounds. Yet in her desperate search, she finds an old enemy has returned…

This is one of those rare sets where everything just went to plan off the bat. From loading the characters in, to the poses to the Nemesis-milk at the end, everything came out just how I wanted. 

Going into this set I wanted to tie the poses into the story and try and tell as much of a narrative without any words, just poses, expressions and camera work. So with the poses I wanted to sell the idea that Nemesis was just using Claire like a toy in a way, how he was holding her and moving her into the positions he wanted. Claire was just along for the ride. 

It gave the set a different vibe than that of my usual big guy sets and I feel that it was all the better for it. These are, in my opinion, some of the best poses I’ve done and I’m particularly proud of how they flowed from one another. 

Another highlight for me, and something longtime members will know I’m very, very anal when it comes to this, but the lighting here just looked great. It’s often a struggle to create a scene that is both dark and moody, but still allows for the characters to be in good lighting. Yet I was really able to nail it here, balancing the atmosphere of a spooky RE set with enough lighting to see what’s going on. 

This set was a hark back to my previous sets, before I started to focus more on story and dialogue, because of that this was a project that I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on. 

I did have a plan for another 4 or 5 images at the end with Claire getting some payback on Nemesis by riding him, but I felt that it was kinda needless and messed with the flow I had perfected up until that point. Perhaps I’ll come back to it at the end of the month and do a little bonus section. See if I can’t tie it into whatever part 18 of this series will be.
