Valiant Hearts (Spoilers)

Hey all! This month's main episode is out. This time I take a look at Valiant Hearts. As always, thank you so, *so* much for your support! I'll be back in a few days with the short!

True enough, but M*A*S*H also firmly stated its lines. Things like 'no laugh track in the OR' for instance. It understood that while it was going to find the levity in the situation, that there were certain things it had to peg down to say "But _war_." I can't say if Valiant Hearts does the same (I've not played it) but I think that is an important point about why M*A*S*H mostly worked despite the shifting tone. Plus, y'know, it went on for 11 years as opposed to however long Valiant Hearts goes for, which also helps I imagine.

Campster, you just described M*A*S*H*: The Game. You don't know if the next chapter is going to be exploitative and whimsical, or if it's going to be dramatic and pulpy. It takes turns petting the puppy, then alternately slapping the puppy.

I am a little bit disappointed that you would talk about how war has been depicted in video games and fail to mention Cannon Fodder. Otherwise, as far as Valiant Hearts analysis is concerned, well done.

Starker

Loved it, Chris. But that said, I disagree with your conclusion slightly. I'd say what we've gained since Wolfenstein 3D is skill and technique. What we've yet to develop is courage.
