With my new base of operations finished, I decided it was time to get this show on the road. I had to get Cherry Hill under control to get access to Checkmate's resources, and to do that I needed to find and dispose of Knightfall. I left Waylon and the girls to move my stuff over and gave Barbie a call. She answered on the first ring. "Hey stranger, been a bit since I heard from you. Was starting to think you forgot about me." I enjoyed the teasing edge in her voice, it was pretty obvious she was looking forward to seeing me.
I chuckled. "Sorry, I ended up buying that house, been moving into it, though I don't want to show you yet, it's still a mess. Anyway, thought we could meet up and spend some time together. I was planning to go hunting for our mutual friend again, but it wouldn't be the same without your cute little ass to follow." I figured flirting would help ease the tension since I knew she didn't want me looking for Knightfall.
She groaned. "Ugh. Of course you'd be looking for her. Fine. I have an informant we can talk to. She usually knows the skinny, but her place of employment is..." She sighed. "Who am I kidding? You're going to fucking love it there. Meet me at my apartment, I'll drive." I grinned at the resigned tone in her voice and slipped my mask off, changing into a spare suit in my care as I pulled out for the drive to her apartment. I was lucky I had a perfect memory, because I had been paying zero attention on the way there the first time, and I had to retrace my steps to find the place.
When I got there I went to climb out but she just walked over and pushed me back in. "We'll take your car." I raised an eyebrow at that but climbed into my passenger seat, looking at her expectantly. She sighed as she pulled out into traffic. "So I know a woman in town who has a pretty good handle on where the bodies are buried. We're going to see her, but I'm not entirely sure I should take someone like you to her workplace. You may get...distracted."
I was confused. "What, is she a stripper or something? I've been around naked women more than you can imagine, I can handle some G-strings and a couple pairs of bouncing fakies." Not that the idea of going to a strip club with Barbie didn't have it's own appeal, but she was acting like I was a dog with a bone, and it was honestly sort of insulting. She ignored my comment as she drove, focusing on the road, and I was beginning to get a bit sulky by the time she pulled into the parking lot of what appeared to be a sports bar.
She turned off the car. She didn't get out, didn't ask me anything, just sat and waited as I looked through the windshield at the restaurant in front of us. I couldn't stop myself from grinning. "Ok. Offense retracted. I get it now. I completely understand why you were worried I would get distracted." I turned in my seat with a shit eating grin. "How did you even know this was here? I've never heard of it so they don't advertise. I know you're a local, but still, do you know someone who eats here often?"
Barbie glared through the window at the superhero themed sports bar we were parked in front of. The sign glowing above the opaque door wasn't really visible from the street. Superbabes. She turned to glare at me. "My dad likes to eat here. Most of the cops in Gotham come by because the food is good and the owner is...civic minded. She gives them a discount on food and...other things, and they leave her alone and keep people from making trouble." Her eyebrow was twitching as she obviously tried very hard not to think about her dad coming to a place where people paid to have sex with women who dressed up like her friends and coworkers, and possibly even her.
I was grinning like a loon as we stepped out of the car. We walked up to the door and pulled it open. The girl at the counter who greeted us when we came in was none other than...Batgirl. Well, sort of. She was a tiny redhead with a decently expensive costume cowl on and an ass so wide I could see it from the front. Seriously, the girl gave Whisper a run for her money. She gave us a bright smile "Welcome to Superbabes, were you expecting anyone else or is it just the two of you?"
Barbie's eyebrow twitched as her eyes slid over the VERY well outlined form of the faux Batgirl, but she pasted on a smile. "Neither, actually. I'm here to talk to Orders? Tell her Jim Gordon's daughter is here to see her." Batgirl (and I was going to call her that every chance I got even in my head because I knew it would drive Barbie insane) turned and happily flounced away, those cheeks rippling with waves that would set off a storm warning siren. I made a mental note to fuck Whisper tonight when I got home.
She came back in about five minutes with a big smile. "Barbara? Orders sent me to bring you back to her office. Your..." She ran her eyes over my frame slowly. "Your friend, can come too." She turned to walk back to the other side of the restaurant again, and this time that fat ass was swaying even as it bounced. It was literally hypnotic, and if I hadn't had an enhanced brain I might have been hooked. As we walked I took in all the different girl available here. Gorgeous girls serving people meals in skimpy outfits I very much approved of.
Wonder woman looking sweet and milfy, with tits even bigger than the real one nearly spilling out of her corset and ass cheeks doing their best to swallow her star spangled spankies. Black Canary, even bustier than my Dinah, though my Canary was perkier. Still she was gorgeous, as was the latina Hawkwoman flouncing by with a pair of pronounced rear cheeks and and absolutely gorgeous blonde in Supergirl's blue top and skirt. I saw Ice and Fire and Green Lantern, and several very sexy women I didn't recognize, one Goth with the biggest softest most rippling tits I've ever seen in a blue cape and a leotard who had to be based on a cape from out of town I didn't know.
Finally though, we reached the back area and walked through what looked like a recreational area to a solid dark wood door. Batgirl knocked sharply. "Come in." A soft voice called through the door. Batgirl opened it and stepped back, letting us through and then closing it behind us, letting us into a well furnished office with an elegant decor. The owner, who I assumed was the woman sitting behind the desk, had good taste.
The gorgeous black haired beauty with the violet eyes smiled serenely at us both as we came in, for all of one second, until her gaze fell on me and her smile dropped. Her eyes narrowed, and rather than greet us she stared at me...hard. We stood like that for a minute until Barbie cleared her throat. "Orders?" The woman's violet eyes snapped off my and to Barbie's face.
She shook off her fugue. "Ah, Barbara, I'm sorry. Your friend...took me by surprise. It's not often I meet someone I can tell so little about. In fact, I didn't even know he was here until you walked in." She glared out the door that Batgirl had retreated through, then sighed. "Not your fault I suppose. Now, what brings you here to see me dear? I trust my last tip panned out properly?"
Barbie smiled. "Perfectly as always. That shipment of heroin would have killed hundreds. It was heavily cut with fentanyl. My dad wanted me to thank you for your help next time I saw you. But I'm actually here on something a bit more...personal. There's a villain in town that's been targeting...a friend of mine. We're hoping to track them down. Calls themselves Knightfall, we're thinking female. Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated."
Orders gave her a kind smile. "Of course. You know I'm happy to lend a hand." She raised an eyebrow. "I trust you'll mention to your father next you see him that I've been so helpful. I always try to help the police after all. And they're always so helpful in return. Like if say...the city's parking restrictions on my customers parking in the next lot were lifted. That would be helpful. Private property or not, it isn't as if they use it for anything." She never let her pleasant smile slip as she spoke.
Barbie, to my surprise, didn't get mad. She just smirked and rolled her eyes. "I'll ask dad to see what he can do. Now, Knightfall? She spends most of her time around Cherry Hill. Never seen her in person so I can't really tell you more than that." Despite her almost comical lack of evidence or clues, she didn't seem worried about Orders knowing something, which told me this woman was wither very connected or a metahuman.
Orders closed her eyes, her smooth brow wrinkling in concentration as she focused in on...something behind her eyelids. I sat there, watching, and waited for anything to happen, but nothing did. I leaned over to Barbie, whispering. "What is she doing? Can she like, hear spirits or talk to the wind or something?" I was assuming meta based on the weird meditation thing. She clearly had some kind of power trance thing going, though I sort of wished it was a bit more visible. I was bored.
That feeling, sadly, did not last. Her eyes popped open and she glared at me. "No! SHE is clairvoyant. And also not deaf!" She turned to Barbie. "Can you please have your meathead wait outside while I work? I would have expected you to at least tell him the rules before bringing him here. You know how much I hate when people talk when I'm focusing." She turned to me. "Go wait outside. Get yourself lunch or something. Barbara will be busy for a while."
I stepped out of the office, cowed by the tiny but very authoritative woman. I walked back to the hostess desk, seeing Batgirl was gone, replaced by the goth girl with massive mammaries. She was leaning against the hostess stand, bored. She was much less friendly when I walked up to talk to her, and when I picked up a menu from the small tray in front of the podium she was at she rolled her eyes. "So who exactly are you? And what is the..." I checked the bottom of the menu where an exceptionally expensive addition was listed. "Special delivery service."
She raised an eyebrow. "I'm Raven. The special delivery service is a delivery service." She put on a a sardonic smile. "It's special. It's also not available on the premises. Sorry." She very clearly had no intention of interacting with me, and I had to suppress a smirk at her complete lack of interest.
I looked through the menu until I saw her name listed. "Well tell you what Raven. My car is outside." I reached into my pocked and pulled out a sapphire the size of a golf ball. "If you'll deliver something to me...special. I'll let you have this. And if I think your delivery is special enough." I reached in and pulled out a diamond of similar size. "I'll give you this one too." I shot her a wink. "I'll be out in the black town car. Hope to see you soon."
I turned and walked out of the restaurant climbing into my car and letting the seat back, closing my eyes. I wasn't expecting her immediately. She would have to get someone to cover her shift, but I was pretty sure she would come out here. I heard a sharp tap on the window, and opened my eyes to grin up at the five foot seven inch goth packing the biggest pair of sweater puppies I'd ever seen. I rolled down the window, raising an eyebrow. She looked me up and down impatiently. "Superbabes. Special delivery service." I grinned and opened the door. I wanted to see just how special.
