It was reported that Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane) & Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) were going to return in this movie. The first draft of the script included other characters from the previous movies but the writers felt including too many would negatively affect the story so I guess that’s why we didn’t end up getting those two back.
