Merch club thoughts (tariffs)
Added 2025-04-16 16:54:34 +0000 UTCIn short, I enjoy making pins and y'all seem to enjoy them too. I finally feel like I've got a fun system down and I already have pins for the rest of the year figured out. I'm going to do everything I can on my end to make sure I can keep things the way they are. None of the extra costs incurred will go towards any of y'all.
I have heard that Chinese tariffs might go up to 245% They keep changing it and redefining who it will affect. So I am not going to make any sudden moves. I have the acrylic pins for March, April, & May in transit to me now. Moo club rewards will go out the moment I have them. (thanks for your patience btw)
Queerbears, for now, is postponed, but not canceled. I'm going to be working on it in in private so y'all will be the only ones in the know until I can comfortably start a kick-starter. As it stands I would have to charge $80-$100 for a plushie to combat tariff pricing, and maybe make a profit. Please support any plushie makers you can in this time because If the tariffs do go up that high, its not an exaggeration to say they will all likely have to pivot away from plushies, enamel pins, and other goods mostly outsourced.
How I might navigate this:
I'm going to to start selling the extra pins in shop online. I usually only buy what I need for the club, but if i can start selling them, it should offset the cost. So y'all would still get a discount, but they would be publicly available for sale.
Find a US or other country manufacturer, this probably wouldn't be cheaper, but it might get to me faster, which would be neat.
We'll get through this, but for now, It's just waiting to see what happens next. Thanks for sticking with me in these uncertain times. I plan on posting here more frequently and to my newsletter.
