I wanted to post an animation WiP yesterday, but couldn't cause it turns out my old approach didn't work as expected either. I have to try a few more things to make this work. There's going to be no stream today because of that.
I think I should explain what the problem is, cause the animation seemed to went along great.
For most of my animations I start out by creating a base loop. That's a short 10-15 frame animation. I then take that, turn it into a clip and string those together, vary the speed and intensity and end up with something that's 150+ frames long, a bit more varied, but still very repetitive. Finally I layer some broad, unique animation on top, which breaks the whole thing up and turns it into something more interesting.
The nice thing about this approach is that I can always make changes to the base loop, which I might do to fix mistakes. The other copies of this clip will update. Having the base loop as a clip also comes in handy when I need to add new animations for a remix (like witch mercy's hat or book).
What's different about the current animation is that I now have two unique base loops to build the animation out of. This is something I wanted to try for quite a while actually.
However, keeping these loops as clips and blend them together in a way that makes sense is proving far more tricky than I thought. In my previous post I gave Maya's Time Editor a lot of crap and thought my old tool (Trax Editor) would be able to handle it, but it can't either :X
I have one more idea I want to try and if that doesn't work, I'll probably just brute force it: I'll duplicate the keyframe animations, which will result in one big unwieldy track, but at least I'll move on. I really want to avoid this, because then remixes would not be an option for these two-loop animations :|
