The greatest moment in this channel's history

My friends, after years of suggestions, hints, requests and other forms of persuasion from the Warhammer community, I finally took the leap of faith and purchased a 40K tank! So you can expect this build at some point this year... hmm, maybe even after King Kong! Although I know that this isn't the right cup of tea for many of you. Trust me, it ain't mine either! But while we're trying new things on the channel, why don't give this popular genre a try, right? It must be popular for a reason, after all! And it's been the most requested topic in the comment section under every single video since the beginning.

At first, I just google searched if there are any decent shops holding these things in Slovakia. After finding one with a few tanks in stock, I started weighing my options. After some deliberation, I went with the most sane-looking tank from this universe. It kinda reminds me of the M50 Ontos and the design is something I could imagine being produced at some point. Although, of course, there are many features that tell the designer didn't think twice about how real tanks are constructed, and I might even remove some of those during the Night Shift construction treatment, but I'll definitely keep the project simple, fun, and quick. I'm already getting some ideas from WW1 battlefields :)

Hallelujah! It's happening! And a wonderful choice of tank too! Surprised you didn't go with the Rhino (especially as it's basically an M113 APC) but still, the Sicaran is a great choice!

EvilEye

is it happening? If waited for this moment so so so so so so long. Since i watched you years ago. im hyped af

Christian a

Makes me think of the SU-76 a little, though I don't know why.

Solomon Hollowell

I did a rework of an Imperial Guard Basilisk using 1/35 parts from a Hummel and a T-62. Looks fantastic but cannot bring myself to paint it and weather it like I would a 1/35 kit.

BringUpThePIAT

Un Churchill, mejor, fantasías las justas.

david roy moreno

That one is going to be a looker...

Furia 51

Looks like a Churchill or Char B on steroids!

Cliff Leverette

Go for it Martin

Enigma Models

Yes but also no - see Golden Demon entries :)

Michal Grzywnowicz

tbh Iron Warriors have one of the most boring color schemes out there, second perhaps only to Space Wolves. I'd love to see something in Red (Blood Angles? Word Bearers?), Blue (Ultramarines, Night Lords), Purple (Soul Drinkers, Emperor's Children) or Teal (post-heresy Thousand Sons). I myself tried blue Ultramarines, purple Soul Drinkers and will be doing more Word Bearers (have one tank for test but it needs dirtying up). Blue came out acceptable. Purple... I did my best but dirty up and pin wash but it looks... weird. Shame I can't post a picture here, you'd be able to all laugh at my attempt and Nightshifting in 40k.

Michal Grzywnowicz

We have such sights to show you.

Michael Llaneza

Gotta be Iron Warriors or the Fists

Shane Thomas

Yes! Finally! I love your armour models and your dioramas are fantastic, but being honest I struggle applying your methods on bright colors that 40k models usually have. I've got ultramarine blue tanks (no rewards for guessing which chapter that is) and reds, all vivid, and techniques that work on realistic armour and camo look weird on bright and vivid colors. I'm soooo looking forward to your take on an unrealistic model. So being selfish and wishing to learn something new, pleeease don't do it in anything even remotely realistic color-wise. Please use one of typical ridiculously bright 40k color schemes :)

Michal Grzywnowicz

I started watching your channel to learn how to do a better job on my WH vehicles. Super glad to see this. Quick suggestion. During construction, keep a counter of how many times you say "WTF, Why in hell did they do it like this". If you're anything like me , it will be solidly in the triple digits. Try to remember, the point of that kit is to make a cool gaming piece that looks good at 3', and can survive being dropped, and fondled by cheeto hands, not to make a detailed model. IE: Try not to compare it to, say, Tamiya. Also, "Waaagggghhh"

Shane Thomas

I'm sure you will do a amazing job on it

BRAD VAUGHN

Not my genre either. But this looks really promising. Maybe you can pair the WWI surrounding topic with some what if accessories from WWII German equipment like night vision etc. And maybe like your T95 some spikes. From this rather "clean" looking tank to an absolute brutal war machine. Could be a most interesting build of its own kind, with lots of interesting new features and techniques, if you know what I mean.

Tim Malinowski

Maybe, just maybe you'll surprise us like you did with the WW1 Ma. K. build. Who Knows?

Drew Gardner

Can't wait to see how this turns out! Would love to see what you could do with a Rogal Dorn tank haha

Mark Carrig

Yaasssss, Martin yaasssss!

Patrick

Go for it!

Bill Scott

this is going to be truly glorious !!!!

Andrei Mihai

Not really my thing.. something like Titanfall would be a banger!

Magnetide

I went in reverse order. I painted and built the Warhammer 40K stuff as a kid, although I never actually played the game, then as an adult I got into scale models. I still remember this book from I think the Forgeworld team, back when I was in high school, probably around 2003 or 2004, and it was a book showing off their armor painting and detailing, and they had painted up the Ice Warriors of Valhalla a lot like WWII Soviet troops, with stowage and winter camo on the tanks. I was never more bummed to not be able to afford those kits as a kid than I was at that moment. Looking forward to your take on 40K! You might have to grab some Imperial Guard minis to paint up too while you're at it.

Aaron White

It is indeed very popular, not really my thing, but I do have a few colleagues who know their way around it, I'm curious to see what new wind this brings here...

Danny Jeurissen

And why not. One thing I have learned from being here, you may not always build something that I would build, but going along for the ride is always a blast! Look forward to your take on this one.

Paul Garrity

looks pretty cool! although in my opinion this looks better suited to a ww2 diorama (unless it's like a time travel thing?)

Joxar

LOL Games Workshop doesn’t really do sane 😄. I think you’ll have fun with it, their stuff is good quality with price to match. You can go mad emphasising all the moulded details, if you choose to keep them. Good luck.

Steve Goodman

As a non WH model maker... HELL YEAH!

Madalin Cojocariu

Very good decision, will you be following the 40K paint schemes or will this be a Night Shift interpretation? I did an Ork Deff Dread once but painted it my way - so much fun!

Christopher Obarski

The dark side calls…😀

Matabele

Cool, I actually have a Sicaran still in box, and I'd love to see what you do with it. And also yeah to say Games Workshops stock situation at the moment is abysmal is an understatement.

Eman720

Looking forward to this - I used your techniques and ERA stl on the older resin version of one of these awhile back - turned out great!

Ben Smith

Hey Martin, I too sometimes build these warhammer things in a more scale modelling fashion. The main reason is more artistic liberty. So my advice: maybe try some more unconventional colours? Don’t mean paint it pink (but by all means do if you feel like it), but just something that in the real would not be that good an option. Also, I done one of these things myself (the resin one) and they look slick with two fuel barrels attached like on the T-55, T-72, the WW2 era. So if you have some barrels and spare plastic. Trust me, it is quite the realistic operational transformation. Anyhow, enjoy the pallet cleanser.

Stephan Krul

Dear lord, its finally happening...... I honestly can't wait to see your take on these kits. When you get a talented modeller letting their imagination go wild on a fantasy vehicle it can have some amazing results. https://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/road-to-hell-2/

Kristian Kelly

Ahhhh! Sweet! You have it in-hand!

Jason Shiskowsky

Looking forward to this one Martin. I do like the look of some of these models. It’s a bit like your MaK build before, stepping into a slightly different genre. Exciting stuff!

Kevin SKB118

I love that you are expanding into new areas. Don't get me wrong, the WWII miniatures are stunning, and I love watching you do what you do, but those façades you did of distressed industrial buildings were absolutely gorgeous and inspiring. So keep branching out, keep trying new stuff, it's all super cool! And I know you put your individual spin on everything you make.

Bob Fingerman

I will be interested to see what you do without references. It is a really different deal. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Dave Pluth

So, yea... most of us watching are probably historic tank guys for a lack of a better definition. However, I personally have learned a few technics from other forms of modeling like car models, Gundam and even aircraft. I know, aircraft. 😉I think a lot can be learned from stepping outside are wheel house or at least watching those outside our wheel house. I mean I started with Car models. It can be fun to try different categories of model building or to at least see what everyone else is doing. So like the Maschinen Krieger you did awhile ago, I think this will be fun to watch. Just don't paint it Purple or something like that. 😜

mike garcia

Can’t wait to see it! I recently completed a Warhammer 40K Lemann Russ tank. I made it Russian however as I M not a fan of the Warhammer paint schemes and fave me something to work with to make a post Ukrainian War Russian tank .

Patrick Gauthier

What is great about these is you are only limited by your own imagination. After doing something so historical you can do something fantastical, or until we actually mess things up, and it becomes historical again.!! :) I have not seen these done yet!!

Bob Yack

FANTASTIC!! My son is crazy about Warhammer and spends a lot of time building then playing tabletop. The detail on the kits are great. He is very keen to see how you handle the kit. I think he might now allow me to paint one of completed builds?

Steve Whenan

I've been using some of your Nightshift magic on Warhammer tanks for years. I can't wait to see how you handle a Sicaran. It would be great to see a Warhammer diorama too...

Eric H

Yeah. Looking forward to this one.

Jaie H. (aka DemiLancer)

How is the molding quality on it? I've seen some warhammer kits in the past (long time ago) that where barely better than bad old days of Eastern European model kits LOL

Sherminator

Being me, I elected not to paint the Golden eagles or skulls on my tanks and set them firmly in the Somme...

Travis Coffey

Also not specialy into 40K but You got to try some different stuff. Personaly I've got in my collection 3 Gundams, Red Alert 2 Apocalypse and KaiserKaffer

Paweł Sieradzy

Excellent. I know next to nothing about warhammer but I dig the quasi WW1 astetic of the Death Korp of Krieg. That and the 3rd part Grim Guard kits. I think you might enjoy that particular look as well.

Travis Coffey

Not a Warhammer person, but their vehicles are crazy cool!

Sablehawk

Wow! Horus heresy!!!!!

Alexander Dymov

To each his own. Not mine at all. Next stop: Cobi?

Custer0706

Why not. Its always great to see a new point of view on a subject

Vitek Kozlowski

Going to be awesome mate!

Jim Kearney

Oh nice!!! Can't wait for this one!!!
