Fifty-two feet from the truck, the tracks and skids converged on a ten-foot-wide hole in the floor, it’s lip showing multiple gouged cracks and rust-filled bolt holes. Building schematics merged with public data said the yawning hungry darkness led down to the city’s two-hundred-year-old storm drain system. Twenty feet away lay the hundred-pound iron grate that had been bolted in place over the hole since it had been built. It had been twisted like taffy. Merging her team’s data together, initial estimate was that almost fifty people were marched or dragged down into the darkness here.
“We goin’ in, boss?” Special Agent Carpenter asked her.
“Nah, fuck that! Call Black Tiger.”
