It’s taking shape
Added 2023-10-16 10:06:01 +0000 UTCMy friends, the mill is almost complete. This is my progress from Friday, and most of the time was spent on the roof. It’s made from black cardboard and although the tiles come in rows, it still takes time to get it right! Luckily, once soaked with PVA and left to dry, the paper turns rock hard, becoming very easy to cut and sand flush with the laminated back side of the building.
The laser-cut patio was a breeze to assemble. I only replaced the top railings with strips of veneer because the kit parts didn’t quite follow the natural direction of woodgrain. (PS: I just noticed that the hand rails in these photos are made from balsa wood. I noticed that they look out of scale right after I took those photos, and replaced them with veneer. You'll see them in the next batch of photos)
I just need to finish the doors and window shutters with some 3D printed hinges that are also a part of the kit, and then I’ll turn my attention to the water wheel!
