It’s big!
Added 2023-10-13 09:19:13 +0000 UTCMy friends, the 36-minute Chevy video is finished, and I started assembling the water mill from RT-Diorama.
The whole scene weighs almost 4kg with the majority of the chonk (3,5 kg) contained in the plaster base. I’ll be making that from scratch because it’s too heavy for my glass shelves.
The mill is really awesome with lots of interesting details! Assembling it was a new experience. I decided to fill the inside with blocks of styrofoam as this would lead to a couple of benefits - the whole structure would be stiffer and the walls won’t break during rough handling, it would also ensure sound geometry, and lastly, I could precisely laminate the back side with oak veneer.
Filling the gaps and bubbles in the plaster was done with Bergswerk acrylic foam putty and sculpting brushes. Also, adding cracks into this surface is hella fun and easy!
I’m going to add the roof and then there comes the water wheel 😁
