A little transformation

… done with a pin wash, chipping, and rusty oil paints!

My friends, this is the largest benefit of post-shading and a pale base coat. You can apply a wash and the model looks finished - if it represents a clean, new vehicle. Also, you don’t have to hold back with effects because they won’t make the model unlikeable and dark, but tone it down to a more natural finish.

I’d like to keep the weathering on this one rather light because a vehicle like this wouldn’t see so much brutal action as a frontline tank would. On the other hand, it would see other kinds of use! That’s why I focused most of the chipping on the flatbed. It’s still a bit over the top for a military vehicle and resembles a civilian truck, but then again… who knows. These trucks could see their service life from Italy 1943 to Germany 1945.

Also, I didn’t invest time into those areas that will be covered up with the cargo. Which reminds me… it’s time to paint the details and stowage!

Paints used during these steps were: AK Dark Umber wash (enamel), Rotbraun+Black for chipping, Oxide Patina+Dark Rust oils 😊

Also, I’m in the finishing stages with the hallway rebuild, which has been draining most of my energy. I’ll show you the result once the floors are done, and then it’ll be finally normal workbench time again!
