My friends! It's time for yet another fresh project, and something we haven't done on this channel. I wanted to build the Lend-Lease Valentine as my next model, but this cool little kit arrived in the meantime and it was hard to resist. This is actually a nice gift from the Plastic Posse Podcast (thank you, Scott!) and it's kinda their "fault" as they got me stoked about this idea :)
Now, I wanted to build and paint this suit the traditional way, following the in-universe rules of the Maschinen Krieger genre. However, when I was thinking about a vignette, I thought it would be cool to put it in a WW1-style trench. And later, actually this week, I got an idea about the camouflage - keep the pattern from the boxart, but change the colors to a WW1 German tank scheme - Dull Green as a base coat, and Ochre as the camouflage color. And with that idea I went through my spare decals, and found leftover crosses and skulls from the A7V and Whippet!
Does it make sense? Absolutely not. Is it cool? Definitely yes, at least in my opinion!
I'm hoping to have this build finished by tomorrow, but who knows. It goes pretty smoothly, and the only major modification I had to do so far was fabricating new armored hoses by twisting 0.3mm copper wire around a 1.9mm wire in an AC drill.
BTW, the kit is 1/20 scale Melusine from Wave. Maybe it's my lack of experience with these kits, but the fit is very tight and I had problems assembling most of the pieces together!
