My friends, it's been an exhausting week, but the rewarding part is here - the finished Karl!
One of my objectives was to finish the model before the weekend, so I could then focus on the video editing part. Speaking of which, I'll do my best to make it ready for you sometime tomorrow!
As for the weathering bit, as usual, I started with the lower hull and running gear. Standard techniques were used here - stippling with AK acrylic paste, pre-dusting with Tamiya Buff, and refining with Ammo enamels: Rainmarks Effects, Earth, and a bit of Dark Wash.
The tracks were burnished in VMS Black Track Pro, and weathering them was really fun. Once I had the lower hull assembled, it gave me a much better idea about the weathering on the upper surfaces. My goal was a dry, dusty, but not boring surface, and most importantly: subtle! To achieve this, I enhanced the light dry tone made with Rainmarks Effects with some stains and "shading" using Earth. Of course, some of the pin washes had to be revived, especially on the walkways. Speckling was heavily involved with very diluted paints, and this technique added to that textured, random look of the earth effects.
Some careful polishing with a graphite stick finished the job, and added a heavy metallic look to the model. All it needs now is a figure or two, and a simple scenic base. Then we can move on to the next model!
And with all the upcoming models (that are gonna be way more reasonable with this), I'll make sure to update and catch up with you more frequently, and make the early videos ready on Friday before their official release, not sometime during the weekend. This monster was just way too demanding and I didn't want to drag the gap between uploads any longer, so I fully focused on finishing it over the past week.
