Ground painted

My friends, today was a productive day and the terrain is now ready!

Most of the heavy lifting was done with acrylics. A base coat of Flat Earth followed by a mid-tone of Buff, and finally some highlights with Deck tan, all Tamiya paints applied with an airbrush. This gave the ground a very nice, dry, dusty appearance, so I could just pick out the individual stones with Vallejo acrylics ranging from Old Wood to Orange Brown using a paintbrush. This was the most time-consuming yet oddly satisfying stage. The large rocks were painted using the wet blending method, starting with a base of Old Wood, mid tone of Light Mud and highlight with Deck Tan, again from Vallejo.

The rocks then received a very gentle wash of diluted Industrial Earth oil paint, and the raised portions, especially the tire marks, were highlighted with some aggressive drybrushing using Light Mud oil paint, both from 502 Abt.

The road sign was weathered using the standard approach - a greyish base coat, apply the decals, seal, add some discoloration to the sign with diluted light grey, add a pin wash, chipping, rust tones, and some dust.

Onto the figures!
