Let there be concrete!

My friends, the demolition and pipework on my bathroom is over and next are the tiles... in other news, I planted the grass, and started painting the concrete slabs. I didn't have enough energy today to finish all of them to the same standard as the last five in the back, but even that isn't the final result.

I wasn't sure if this was the right approach, but it seems like the results are gonna be pretty nice and interesting. So once again, a warm base coat is important - in this case, it was several mixtures of German Grey, Buff, Deck Tan, and Flat Earth. But then you need to knock it down with acrylic washes. Because the base was so warm, I only needed to add one heavy wash of light acrylics - light grey and white, leave it to dry, and then add another one with ash grey and black brown. For this dark wash, however, the surface needs to be moist with clean water so it'll flow into the cracks. The next stage, the one I started doing in the back, is bringing out the raised texture with very diluted light grey.

That, however, ain't the final step. Because this concrete is made out of cork, I'll happily mess around with some enamel washes as well, but first I need to finish the acrylic work, spray the dirt, and then proceed to enamels, moss, and other fun stuff.

Let there be concrete! Let there be concrete! Let there be concrete! Let there be concrete! Let there be concrete! Let there be concrete! Let there be concrete!
