My friends, the trees are painted, weathered with earth effects, and I also finished painting the remaining groundwork.
Painting every log individually would drive anyone insane, so after a few attempts, I resorted to dry-brushing with various acrylics ranging from dark brown through reddish-brown and finishing with medium grey. Then they received a few oil paint washes, some mossy residue from Slimy Grime, and finally, the top section received a lot of earth tones. This made the tree bridge more colorful, integrated into the diorama, and matches the tank's tracks!
The remaining groundwork was about the same techniques, here I just painted the individual stones as usual, especially in the shell crater where various layers of gravel and rock would've been exposed.
JS-2 is also glued in place. No superglue or anything under the tracks, instead I drilled a hole into the tree bridge and ran a plastic rod through the tank's belly - through that securing nut I used previously to mount it to the painting jig.
Last night I poured the first layer of resin. The ratio was 18ml of resin and 7 drops of Khaki Drab. This has proven to be very little for the river as it only resulted in a few mm of water. And the mixture was very opaque, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing - at least we won't see the edge of the bridge and the concrete slabs, as was the case in the Mark IV diorama.
This morning I poured the second layer. This time 30ml of resin and 5 drops of paint. I'm leaving it to dry until the evening so I can pour the final layer. I think this top mixture will be 30ml of resin and 2 drops of paint. Once it's dry tomorrow morning, I'll add the waves with clear Water Gel.
In the meantime, I'll paint the soldier from Evolution Miniatures. I'm sorry that I didn't meet the deadline and this diorama wasn't ready as an early video yesterday, but I think the finished video will be worth the wait!
