My friends, yesterday I built the bridge and the bank of the river. These two elements had to be done first so I could laminate the sides with veneer. The bridge is now glued in place and yes, everything will have to be glued together before I can start painting :(
So the bridge is made from Evergreen sheets and 2mm strip profiles. Using the styrofoam shape as a template made it much easier, I just had to glue the main elements with PVA glue and some CA here and there. The railing is also connected with superglue, so I hope it won't get broken in the next few hours :D
The concrete slabs on the bank are made from cork covered with acrylic putty. Usually I'd make such surfaces from styrofoam, but I don't want it coming into contact with epoxy resin... so everything that's made of styrofoam is "protected" in some way. I really don't want any epoxy leakages or other disasters this time!
Okay, so next up is the veneer and then I'll probably start filling the collapsed bridge with twigs. I just hope that I collected enough because it looks like the bridge will need a TON of twigs!
