My friends, the next step was chipping, all done using the standard approach - sponge for light chips and Dark Rust (Panzer Aces) for the steel chipping. I would've finished this step yesterday, but you know how things sometimes go - you plan a long session at the workbench, but other things come up 😊
Gotta say, narrowing this entire process down to 2-3 days ain't bad at all! Sure, the quality did suffer in some places compared to some previous models where all chips were painted by hand, including the light ones, but as with everything, it's about compromises. Besides, rust effects change the chipping a lot, and that's what I'm hoping to do tomorrow. Paint the steel details with grey acrylics, and give everything the enamel rust treatment. Can't forget about the chipped welds this time 😁
At least the rust and painted tools&details will give it a splash of color and it won't be just that boring French green 😁
PS: the heavy post-shading got toned down slightly with washes and chips, but not as much as I expected. Makes me even more curious how it'll look after rust and dust effects.
