When a pin wash is (almost) irrelevant

My friends, I decided to kick off this weathering with a wash, and what a bamboozle it was. To get some practice, I started with a few weld beads and it was very surprising to see how they made almost no difference (heavily post-shaded surface doing its job). Then, in some places, the welds turned almost black when I tried to apply more, lol. Luckily I was able to wipe the excess paint off, otherwise, the only fix would be a gentle overspray with diluted camouflage color.

Luckily, in other places it made a subtle difference 😆Compared to the clean post-shaded surface, the details look sharper, just as they should. But yeah, it was a very interesting experience! 😁 I went with my favorite Sepia oil paint from 502 Abt.

Also, it could be the 3D-printed resin again, but the wash wasn't as easy to remove. The difference was immediate when I was wiping it from plastic parts, such as the tow cable ends, or the 50 cal tripod. I think it's the porous texture of the material, doing its job even through several layers of varnish, paint, and primer.

Chipping is next!

Only if photographing those colors would be as easy 😁

Well, it's a French tank, so the frog resemblance does check out 😁 Thanks!

The bumpy texture of the cast surfaces and the mottled green paint, along with the soft curves on the front of the turret gives this tank a very organic look - almost like some kind of toad (or perhaps Jabba the Hut). :) Looking good, my friend!
