Somua finished and another "experiment"

Ma frens, I added more earth effects on the upper hull, renewed some lost contrast around hatches with oil paints, speckled some grime on the engine deck and polished the worn edges with a pencil. With that, the Somua is done and we can move on to the most exciting part - vignette!

I also did another procrastination side-quest and quickly painted the test block with bricks and cinderblocks I made some time ago. Just basic colors, a heavy wash of white acrylic paint and some streaks with Industrial Earth oil paint. Valuable lessons were learned, and next time I'll paint the bricks first and only then add and paint the mortar lines, as crazy as that sounds!

Thanks! Those markings were a nightmare. They adhered to the surface really well but their clean appearance didn't match the worn tank at all. If I wasn't so lazy, I could've easily cut stencils from Tamiya tape. Oh well, next time! 😁

Thanks!

The tank looks great. One of the things that really turned me off was that roundrel on the top hatch, but you've really toned it down and blended it into everything. Just looks great. and love how your experiment turned out with the bricks.
