Ma frens, here's another trip down memory lane. I started painting this model in October 2015 and finished in January 2017. Why such a long time? Because I was painting this one while following along with Adam's awesome weathering series on Youtube where he was painting a KV-1. It was a nice practice model, trying to replicate his approaches while putting a small personal spin on it.
The model has a long history as well. It's one of those early T-34/76 kits from Dragon which I bought from a friend, built the hull, gave it to another friend who finished the entire construction and he then gave it back to me for painting. At that point in time I had an unused T-34/122 resin turret from Wilder (out of production by now) so it was a nice chance to put it to some good use.
This was actually my first serious attempt at brush painted chipping. Before that, I relied completely on the hairspray method because I could never get the paint consistency right and my chips were just terrible. This really rekindled my enthusiasm and drastically changed the way I was painting models from that point onwards.
One last thing unrelated to the model.... I've been quite stressed out about my injury during the past few days... basically since my appointment on Friday. Doc wasn't able to remove my stitches because the wound was still a bit swollen... and of course, they couldn't miss a chance to throw a few spooks into the session, basically saying if the swelling doesn't go away my stitches can start popping out on their own, the wound will re-open and skin might start rotting away. Yeah, sounds pretty fun, right? Luckily, after my follow-up visit yesterday they removed the stitches and gave me a full cast. The leg now feels way more secure and I don't feel any swelling anymore. This means one thing - I'll take things easy for the rest of the week, but starting on Monday, I'll try to get back to the workbench! Also, I'll have an x-ray check-up on August 4th and if the healing goes well, they might take the cast off as it'll be 6 weeks since the surgery. My predictions might be too optimistic, but one or two weeks on top of that won't be the end of the world!
