aaaand it's done!

My friends, the end is here! The final touches took forever compared to the initial weathering steps... it's again that weird spot where you spend more time just thinking about what to do and where to do it... and if not that, it's just the overall lack of mojo to push on and get it done. I don't know why, but that's kind of a thing with my projects, the closer the end is, the lazier I get πŸ˜† But the important thing is that it's done!

The most important step that kinda brought the weathering together was wet stains and water effects. It's a very powerful technique that adds a lot of texture to layers of dust and mud! As always, I mixed a dark earth paint with wet effects fluid in equal ratios and added a few drops of dark brown wash to make the mixture darker and more saturated. Then it was just about speckling, painting random blobs and stains and that kind of stuff. I also polished some places with a pencil - the mine roller wheels and the large machine gun. The final effect was streaking oil from the exhaust, this was painted on with Dark Brown wash from AK (which is almost black) and the muffler was airbrushed with very diluted XF-1 (Flat Black).

The last missing detail were antennas, these were again made from stretched sprue and painted with a medium grey color. And that was it!

Unfortunately the model is too long and just too big to be placed on a scenic base, so this one will have to do without it, even though I had a pretty nice idea with an IED made from an old fuel drum marked with colorful balloons (a real scene from a Youtube video where the BMR was tested in remote operated mode).

Oh well, time to wrap it into a video and onto the next project!

Also, this model was done relatively fast considering how complex and big it is, don't you think? I guess the pre-weathering and non-linear approach (both of which I'll be explaining in videos) has a lot of potential! 😁

aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done! aaaand it's done!

Wow! Nice work! I love the fenders, they looks so real! Here’s an idea, maybe add a chunk of the mine roller missing and parts near bent, like a large mine or arty exploded near it.

It also felt a lot better!

Yeah, it felt faster/more efficient than other builds! so that's good I think. and the results are absolutely great, amazing details and textures! congratulations
