Hello my friends, the model is now completely rescribed and ready for texturing, flame cutting and welding! (Except the rear plate where I still need to sand those styrene blocks).
Now there were some real "gems" like the underside that goes above the tracks. This part where the lower hull meets the upper hull just didn't fit whatsoever, and I can understand large parts can warp which leads to issues like this, but it was pretty bad, so I had to hold these 2 main parts together with superglue and a lot of cement. Then it was about tons of sanding to get them more or less level and then of course scribing the new weld lines. These probably won't be visible on the finished model but it feels good to have this part clean.
The interlocking weld where the back plate connects to the sides was molded nicely, but it resembled a Soviet weld, it looked quite messy. I don't know why Takom did this when the real tank has nice, almost neat welds there. Also the detail was smaller than it should be, so here I had to draw a new shape, rescribe it and create the armor cross section with a styrene sheet. These carving chisels are fantastic, I didn't have to use a straight edge once! It's a much more enjoyable process than using the Tamiya scriber.
So yeah, I'll just clean up the rear plate where I had to fill these large depressions with styrene sheets (that's where plastic fenders are supposed to go) and it's ready for steel textures!
