Hey friends, FINALLY back at the workbench and I managed to create the basic layout of the terrain.
But before we get to that, today I also filmed the 100K special video, which will go up tomorrow, because it was twice as big as the usual videos so it finished uploading just now.
So back to the base, again a block of styrofoam, this time covered with a thin coat of air-drying clay. I'm praying it doesn't crack once it's completely dry, because it's a lot of fun to work with, I created track impressions, ruts and basically a lot of details with it.
The sides were coated with acrylic mud from Ammo (Muddy Ground) and this paste is very different when I compare it to the dry tone I used on the Syrian base. It can be spread in a very thin layer and stippled, which creates very nice texture. I think I'll cover the road with it tomorrow once it's fully cured, it's seriously some good stuff. It also works really well as a filler for the sides of the styrofoam block. I'll have to take care of those tomorrow with Mr. Surfacer though.
I'm also posting some reference pictures showing what I'm after, the final result should be something in between those two country roads. There will be some grass on the sides, also a wooden fence, it should look quite interesting.
Anyway, more progress tomorrow!
