Yay, oil dots are done!
At first I thought giving the whole model a light brown filter might be essential, but then decided against it and applied it only on the "new" and replaced parts - cupola, gun barrel and wheels.
Then I just blended a lot of oil dots over the entire model. On the green parts it was olive drab, buff, ochre and white. On the dark yellow - white, buff, ochre. And on the panzer grey - white and panzer grey (yeah I actually found a "panzer grey" oil paint in my drawer 🤣)
Of course blending oils over the zimmerit was tricky, and I had to find a good method for this. What worked for me really well was blending each dot into a stain and then just spreading it further. I think some of them might be still visible in the pattern.
Also this step helped me to understand how to proceed next and which colors to use. Just like on the Rutscher, the next step is a pin wash and then more oil paints, mostly for fake shadows but I might also create some more random effects, although I'm not sure yet what they will be 😄
If you compare these photos with the previous update the camo colors should be a little richer and at the contrast between them a little less striking.
And also worth noting is that I didn't use enamel thinner for blending like usual, but the Oil Expert from VMS, which accelerates their drying time. Hopefully they'll be nice and dry tomorrow, but then again some of them started to dry up in my palette after 2 hours, so hopefully they will. I feel like the Oil Expert also works as flow improver because the oils blended much smoother than I'm used to. Very cool stuff.
That's all for tonight my friends, I'm sleepy as hell, I'll report again tomorrow 😊
