Update!

aaaand it's a completely different Tiger! and it looks like crap! 🀣

But hey, it's mostly the masking fluid which makes the model look repulsive (or more than it is lol) as all the tasty stuff is hidden underneath it.

Well I mixed the Dark Yellow to be more like White Yellow lol, I wanted it veeeeeery pale so it'll make a good base for the green and also for the upcoming filters, washes and oil dots. Very similar to how I painted the Rutscher, but this time it's even more pale and desaturated. There's also reason for that, because yellow and green are both very vivid colors, which would look off on the cold grey base coat.

But what about that chipping? Haha, I saw this coming from the beginning, because I lost my grip with the HS technique, and I had some problems with the paint not peeling off, especially on the turret, where I had to add more grey on top, and repeat the process (2nd picture). It also reminded me how exhausting is to create large amounts of chipping with this method - you pretty much have to keep working on it until you're done otherwise the paint will harden up and you're screwed. Can't wait to not do this again! Also I've gone pretty radical on the lower hull, as most of it won't be seen under the dust and mud and tracks and wheels, but I wanted to see how it'll look.

So, to make a short summary - yes, it looks weird right now (tomorrow it'll probably look even weirder), my back is aching, tomorrow I'll add the green layer, and then I'll probably have to do some small corrections here and there. Of course I'll do most of the fine chipping with a paintbrush the usual way, this is more just to make it clear the tank was originally dark grey and it was painted over with 2 different paints.

Can't wait to take that abomination called liquid mask off.

But who would have expected that removing the mask would take 2 hours 😱

Night Shift

I used Ammo and VMS masking fluids to test them out - they both performed well. But because of the multiple layers of paint I used, what happened was that I removed the dried fluid, but a lot of the paint was left behind just hanging in sheets. I had to tear it off the model with tweezers and scrub away with a stiff brush.

Peeling the mask away is so rewarding though - you and us are in for a treat!

What kind of masing liquid did you use? I had terrible experiences with it. Except for masking plane canopies I hate how un precise it is, but it might be just my lack of experience.
