Well well well, the Tiger construction video is finally done (it'll be the longest video so far, 25 minutes!) and the narration will be... interesting in a few places (let's say I was about 80% sober while narrating).
So, with the build video out of the way I prepared the Tiger for painting, it's all disassembled and washed with soapy water. Now I'm just letting it dry until tomorrow. In the meantime I did some more testing with the new Tamiya paints holy s*** I ran out of white paint again (gonna order a bottle tonight, but I guess it'll arrive on Thursday).
What I'm pretty much 100% happy with is the distressing on the Panzer Grey, so I'll definitely do that tomorrow. If I still have some white after that, I'll start with the dark yellow as well.
I also received a box full of VMS products! The stoke is so real, I already tried their Chip & Nick paint and I see a lot of potential in it. I wasn't able to take a look at everything yet, but I'll sort through it tomorrow.
What you see on the last photo are 2 more test pieces. The top one is painted with the new Tamiya German paints straight from the bottle, so it pretty naturally looks like total crap, the middle one is the test piece from a few weeks ago, and that dark brown chipping is the VMS paint, and the bottom one is with the new paints, but slightly lighter. The Dark Yellow was mixed with some Deck Tan, and the Olive Green was mixed with the Dark Yellow mixture. Pretty much looks just as bad as the first attempt. I need to mix them with white, but I'm keeping it for tomorrow. Also you can see how the green needs to be lighter on the turret numbers - they're just way too dark.
Anyway, I'm glad to be back at the workbench!
