... we're getting there!
So I made the gun cleaning rods and here I took the opportunity to display them in a more "messy" manner. Building them from scratch allowed me to make them assemble like the real thing so I put 2 of them together. Their ends should be metal sleeves which are slightly thicker than the wooden part, but I was too lazy to replicate that. Oh well, I'll have to make the illusion with paint. If I wasn't lazy I would've masked the wooden parts with tape and sprayed the ends with a few coats of surface primer, which would make them look thicker.
The roof section under the gun barrel will be full of tool clamps. Once you get into it they're not so hard to assemble, but it's still time consuming, like, I spent about 25 minutes just cleaning up the excess superglue with debonder... yeah, kinda tedious.
The Bosch light is "open" just like on the real tank and I was real glad the Voyager PE set includes that circular part which makes it look so much better. Electric wires were really obnoxious and after about 10 attempts I gave up on copper and made them from lead wire.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I often use superglue as a simple way to simulate tiny weld beads around fine details such as these PE parts. I just apply it in larger amounts around each part and then clean the excess with debonder, it's almost like a wash, but with superglue. It sort of looks like a tiny weld, which would be super time consuming to replicate with epoxy putty. Yeah, at least one small trick after some time ๐
