Daily update (?)

Hey guys,

today I wasn't able to build or edit... maybe I'll do some stuff tonight, but in the meantime I did a color profile for the Tiger.

I'm surprised I didn't think about it sooner, dumb me... instead of trying different paint mixtures on pieces of styrene I could've just tested it in photoshop to see which color shades go well together.

I think with this final picture I have figured it out. The green must be very, very pale, and, surprisingly, the dark grey should be pretty... well, dark.

I ordered the new German colors from Tamiya: XF-88 (coincidence?), XF-89 and XF-90.

There's still plenty of time until the Tiger is ready for paint, so in the meantime we can discuss our options (if there are any lol).

Take care mates!

Yeah, in the first 2 photos it seems lighter. But one thing worth considering is that zimmerit makes every color look darker because of the numerous shadows it casts. So in this case it might be light refraction. In the last photo (with the dog) the numbers are the same shade as the zimmerit and also very similar to those camouflage patches on the commander's cupola, which had a 3-tone camo (you can see all 3 shades in that photo). This might be just my own interpretation but the way I see it is the tank had zimmerit applied directly over the old Panzer Grey coat in a factory and was then repainted in yellow. Some modellers make this coat a 3-tone which I can't confirm or deny... it could be possible... and then it was repainted with olive green in the field, saw some action and the zimmerit flaked off, most probably because it was applied over a glossy or satin grey coat and not over a matt factory primer, and was then assigned to Fehrmann group, where it received the F13 designation. I'm just assuming the green was available at the field workshop, so if it was resprayed in green, it might be the only available color at the moment, and hence the numbers were green as well. But again, this is just my theory based on how it looks in the photos. I actually didn't find much written info about this specific tank.

Night Shift

Well, yeah I guess, but then again I always lighten up every color and I'll always recommend everyone to do the same ๐Ÿ˜„ but in this case I guess I'll keep the panzer grey much darker than I'd usually do.

Night Shift

Hi again, checking some photos of F13 .... hmmm.... the F13 is quite lighter than the surrounding green foliage and the tank itself. I am not sure if it is green, too. It should be darker in that case. Are there other possible colors like yellow for the tac markings? Because the F13 looks the same brightness as the turret rear.

German tank grey was actually a blackgrey. So you are correct with your choise. ๐Ÿ‘
