Introduction to Qyerath, Told by a Thousand Eyes part 5

The part where the war ends and Vyrilana is... defeated?
Comments and feedback appreciated! And I will answer any questions in an actual lore way rather than the "greek storytelling" style!

----------------------------------------------------------

It is a great and terrifying thing to watch evolution in real time you know? Rather than molt and shed her skin and grow naturally like others would. Her body just pulsed with darkness, with this wonderful cyan lightning that shined brighter than the day, with golden light pulsing through her as she digested the divinity of those she consumed. And then her belly would growl just as loudly as before, and she’d be gulping down another!

Now as you can imagine, the Golden Order were absolutely terrified. But there was no escape. The… hmm.., hypercane might be fitting? It is simply called the Maelstrom when it is created by Vyrilana. But The Maelstrom had grown truly massive and powerful… no, that is not doing it justice. From the depths of my core, it was… beautiful. A storm that would cover the world, a storm that would devour everything except for those of us in the eye, and if we were in the eye. We were in Vyrilana’s hunting ground… In scientific terms… I believe the winds were 300 miles per hour and the mbar rating was… 830? Something like that! And these winds were flooded with mana, even the strongest barrier made by some of the fleeing gods were shredded into nothing the likes of which I have only seen by things like Rimefire and Heaven’s Lightning… oh and Essence Leach spells!

Picture it. A God fleeing in terror from a battle to the death, a shining brand on their body, a barrier so strong even the air was not permitted in or out. Pulsing with gold and blue light… hmm… Oh, you know of an Ark shield, right? Even stronger than that! And then when this God fled for their life- a very smart choice heehee! Everyone saw as the bubble around this poor God shattered from thousands, no, millions of tiny holes, glowing as particles of solid mana fell to the ground, something I had never seen before! And then this God’s arms were hit by the true brunt of Vyrilana’s storm, and despite the fact that this God had been thrown through a mountain before and made a sonic boom mid-flight, his body was ripped to pieces right in front of everyone! It was so strange… you would think the storm would pick him up entirely and suck him in right? But no… it was as if he was disintegrating right in front of everyone at the edge of this battle of the ages. Flesh simply… flew away, then blood, then muscle, nerves, bone, inch by inch until there was nothing left of his hands, then his arms, then he was pulled in entirely and simply ceased to be. I will never forget his scream, or the smell in the air as a God was… how would you say it… Atomized, I think?

This is too gruesome? Oh, my apologies! I’ll censor the little details a bit! So everyone had just seen this God die in a way no one had ever imagined. And Vyrilana’s throat was bulging alongside her belly as she swallowed three branded Champions at once. The Gods on the Golden Order were sent into a frenzy for survival. Some tried teleporting only to find out they couldn’t. Whether it was Velex, or the synergy between Sarina, irall and Astrea, or Vyrilana, or perhaps Zuthar knowing he was doomed and wishing to take everyone down with him, but no one could escape. As the light shined on them from above the eye, and everyone watched as Farramuss roared and laughed as Vyrilana’s great heaving abyss of a belly shrank back down, and she grew bigger, deadlier, more hauntingly beautiful… I stopped fighting entirely you know. I think I- no, everyone there knew this was the end one way or another. Vyrilana’s storm was still growing just as she was, perhaps a thousand miles in all directions it tore at the world. And then Vyrilana did something quite surprising as she reached forty feet in length, her body pulsed as if the energy inside was too great for her to contain, and then she roared into the sky and fired a beam that started as black as the void between two nebulae in space, before it turned Cyan like her wings and tail and horns and mouth… then the scales on her wings seemed to melt before the beam turned gold. Eventually matching Zuthar’s colors perfectly.

See, no one knew what had happened at that exact second. But I think some were quick to figure it out. Irall and Astrea leapt upon the Goddess they were fighting and began tearing her to shreds as Irall swam through the air in her giant bubble of water, and Astrea burned the air around her with heat only beaten by Farramuss. Zuthar stabbed Velex in the… right breast and twisted with his Golden Blade. Velex screamed in agony and stabbed her own blades of darkness into Zuthar’s shoulders. Locking the two in place as the brand on Zuthar’s forehead glowed even brighter. Than rain began to fall within the Eye. Vyrilana had cast her first spell, as well as created an all new one! And what a spell it was indeed! This spell would eventually be adjusted and made into the Tenth Tier Arcane Spell [Cry of the Heavens]!

A singing began to fill the air as the rain picked up, as if a choir of wonderous women and men were singing all at once, singing of victory and glory, and the end of all things. Then with a great ringing bell reverberating throughout the entire battlefield. Those with brands on them began to turn to stone in mid-battle. Some were able to resist it, like Zuthar. He is the Supreme God of Order and many other things after all! But all around us the rain turned branded to stone mid-cry for help, mid-stab, mid-fall. The battle was paused in time as if it had never happened as Vyrilana shrieked with joy and Farramuss congratulated his baby sister.

The rain stopped, though The Maelstrom kept growing as a few Champions on our side tried to help Velex free herself from Zuthar. Only for them to be cut to bits just from his aura! Zuthar laughed and spoke up as The Maelstrom howled and Vyrilana stared curiously at him for resisting her spell. Zuthar then spoke quietly, yet everyone heard them and understood, even Greyoll.

You have birthed finality, the end of this world I have made.

Then Zuthar closed his eyes ripped the sword out of Velex’s breast and sat down… it was… I think he had reserved himself to death. Zuthar knew that as a God of an aspect, he would probably live on, but even if he did not, if he would be killed, and his spirit go into the heavens, be devoured by Velex, be torn apart by Null Blades, and cease to be, or be devoured by Vyrilana and feed her next evolution, he did not care. Vyrilana’s belly rumbled again quite loudly as she growled so deeply it could shatter bones, her hunger had already returned, but the other Gods and her siblings told her the war was over. Zuthar had given up after all. But Vyrilana did not care. Her stomach demanded for more sacrifices to feed the abyss inside her. Vyrilana grabbed a few statues and swallowed them whole, but her stomach did not want these anymore and only growled even louder. Like an earthquake. I think Orthus may have been the one who noticed first, or perhaps it was Irixi, but someone screamed that the battle was not done. And we all realized who had become the next target, us.

Vyrilana leapt onto her nearest ally and swallowed her whole, an unbranded, a God of the New Order fighting for harmony in the world. All of us there had become her prey as perhaps out of some foolishness, perhaps because she was too young, too hungry, or simply didn’t care, she didn’t turn the others back from statues, she simply went on to eating the ones who weren’t.

Zuthar opened his eyes and laughed heartily with arrogance dripping in every divine breath. He yelled that we would all be doomed unless we killed Vyrilana, and only a few could be so strong even now! And he was right.

He- wait are you starting to glow a little? Wait you can’t be running out of time already I have so much left to talk about! Okay I’ll speed through thisssss! Sorry if the details are bad!

Greyoll was paralyzed, still healing and now realizing Vyrilana wanted to eat everyone, probably even her as she kept growing! Vyrilana grew from thirty feet to a hundred as she started battling everyone left. Firing beams of energy and darkness and tearing up the already destroyed landscape. She attacked over and over as Zuthar sat and laughed, hoping he would be eaten so everyone else would die even faster I think!

Farramuss defended his baby sister even as she outgrew him and soon all the other Calamity Dragons were too except Greyoll and Monica. The pre-Calamity Dragons joined Monica in attacking as Velex and the others kept going.

Then Vyrilana did her second spell, and darkness replaced the light as perhaps the entire world was covered in blackness. The spell lasted until Vyrilana ate someone extremely important. Velex herself. Vyrilana’s stomach pulsed as Velex was inside, though again, even when the Rhe’Ghal stripped all her power they could not kill her. As a God of an aspect of life, she cannot be truly killed. Just as Rula was alive even in hundreds of pieces. Instead, Velex felt as she was digested but not, Vyrilana was trying to strip the very essence of Death from her, kind of like what the Rhe’Ghal did but with pure magical might rather than the strange science of the Revenants!

The other Gods fought to free Velex from Vyrilana’s stomach before Vyrilana truly became unkillable, but it was a difficult battle. Vyrilana was nearly two hundred feet long and her breath had changed, a glowing black and white flame leapt from her mouth, when this pulsing smog hit a few Champions, their bodies pulsed jet black for a second before they died immediately, black blood leaking from their bodies as a few crumbled into what looked like volcanic ash!

Irall and Astrea had a terrible idea to get Velex out. They turned onto Zuthar who laughed at them for expecting his help to stop the monster they allowed to be born. But instead they grabbed his Golden Blade from his hand and Irall used her Trident, and they sliced him into pieces just like he had done to Rula before. But rather than try and throw him into The Maelstrom or something. The two began feasting on his body, their bodies pulsing with energy as their bellies swelled larger and larger, much larger than the parts they had eaten! I wonder what that feels like… Pervert!? No no I’m not! Well I mean I have some perversions but not like- Ahh the glow! No time!

Irall and Astrea ate all of Zuthar and nearly burst, before the two Goddesses began to change and ripple. Irall’s fins burned with golden light before blazing away as they both writhed from this forced ascendance, then Irall sang, in pain and desperation and hope. And all of humanity heard. Zuthar had taken Humanity on his shoulders as their supreme God, and now she was doing the same. With a cry of agony a halo of light blazed around Irall’s head as her deep blue eyes turned solid gold, and angel wings burst from her back as her tail grew feathers. But Irall didn’t stop there. The Mermaid Goddess of the Deep grew legs, and grabbed her Trident that blazed with energy before cutting off her own tail with a shriek of agony. Her tail transformed into a great winged blade. And Irall fused her trident with the winged blade before collapsing.

Irall too was changing of course! But rather than grow angel wings like her sister. Irall screamed as great horns burst from her skull, a strange purple blaze atop each horn. Irall arched her back as a tail sprouted from her, before the end split into two great bony plates of ebony and ivory, what looked like a miniature singularity swirled inside the circular ring of her claw-like tail!

With their transformations complete. Irall and Astrea had done something unheard of. They had ascended a second time, well teeechnically third time but history doesn’t care about that! Irall became the Goddess of Heaven, and Astrea became Goddess of Hell. And together the two rushed Vyrilana’s great belly, wrapping both their weapons in the chains with Rula’s energy and they skewerd Vyrilana’s stomach. Vyrilana shrieked and roared as her great belly pulsed before being cut open and Vyrilana writhed as Velex tore her way out with their help. Velex emerged weak and exhausted, and the two threw Farramuss to the side as Vyrilana roared and gathered strength even with a massive hole in her stomach. But before she could complete her roar or spell, the two new supreme goddesses sliced her head off, and The Maelstrom began to fade.

That was until a few minutes later, everyone heard a pulse. It was the beating of a heart, but Vyrilana’s had already stopped… or so they thought. Vyrilana’s heart had turned into an egg, strange? Well yeah! But it turned into an egg!

So here was an egg even bigger than the one Greyoll had birthed. And the egg hatched as a new Vyrilana was born, eating her way out of her own corpse as she shrieked and roared for her Mother to help her, for her siblings to help her. Though Farramuss had been pinned down by Orthus Maul and Zarahi much like the rest of the Calamity Dragons except Monica and Greyoll herself. Each of the Primal Beasts was doing their best, as well as many Champions burning themselves to ash to hold back the Dragons as Vyrilana ate her way out and was already ten feet long, and angrier than before.

Vyrilana roared so loudly I think it burst the eardrums of all the Champions still alive, including poor Ajax who was helping his wife Velex of course. And then she demanded that all of us still alive should stop fighting her and become her food as we were meant to! Honestly! If she wasn’t so beautiful and terrifying at the same time I think I would have laughed! Well, at the time it was horrifying and amazing. But now… she really did sound like a little brat crying for more treats or toys!

Astrea and Irall realized Vyrilana had stolen something from Velex, or perhaps absorbed and evolved it? Either way, they could not truly kill Vyrilana anymore. She would return from an egg over and over… a battle to the end of time they thought. That was until Greyoll reared up behind the reborn Vyrilana and pinned her down. Vyrilana screamed as her mother betrayed her, all the others were confused until Vyrilana roared to tear them in two. Vyrilana zapped Greyoll with her cyan lightning as Greyoll’s body blazed, her wings melting as Vyrilana tried to escape. But then Greyoll opened her mouth wide and bit down on Vyrilana’s head and neck. I thought Greyoll was trying to kill Vyrilana, until I realized a strange white light was coming from Greyoll’s mouth and going into Vyrilana. Vyrilana’s body pulsed and began to swell, but Greyoll held her down and kept pumping whatever strange venom or spell she had made into her, and kept pinning down her entire body. Vyrilana whimpered as her body filled more and more, but rather than grow and evolve, something was being forced out of her A strange ghostly white and blue fog leaked from Vyrilana’s mouth as she tried to clamp her jaws shut this time. As Vyrilana seemed like a balloon ready to burst under Greyoll’s claws, her mouth opened and Vyrilana began spewing a white fog. The Fog Coalesced into a large white ball nearly twenty feet in size, with a black orb in the center sending out pulses of black veins throughout it. Many of us were stricken with the realization of what that was.

Vyrilana’s soul. Somehow Greyoll had forced Vyrilana’s soul out of her body without killing her. And Greyoll roared for Astrea and Irall to cut it apart. Astrea and Irall did so, but even with all their might they only broke off a chunk of the massive soul before even they were exhausted, having  used up nearly all their divine energy. Greyoll quickly swallowed this chunk of Vyrilana’s soul, before the cut sealed up and the giant sphere forced itself back into Vyrilana’s body. Greyoll was definitely suffering both physically and emotionally from swallowing a bit of her daughter’s soul, but she still kept atop her body and everyone waited… After an agonizing minute that stretched on for hours. Vyrilana spoke up, her voice as childish as when she emerged from the cave. She asked who she was and why her mother was crushing her. None of us could believe it. Vyrilana’s memories were gone!

So with Vyrilana back to an innocent form for a bit. The God Slaying War ended as the New Order Gods began picking up the pieces. The entire continent had been devastated by Vyrilana’s Maelstrom and there would be tons of damage to pick up. After a bit of time, some of the Gods and Champions of the Golden Order were able to be cleansed of the petrification Vyrilana had done. And they were given two options. Die, or join the New Order. They joined of course. Of course. There was one thing basically all the New Order and cleansed Golden Order Gods could agree on. Greyoll and her Dragons were far too powerful.

But! Rather than start a third Divine War. Astrea and Irall met with Greyoll and told her of their plan to deal with this. And Greyoll accepted. Maybe it was because the Limitless One was still suffering after what she had done to her own child. But she agreed the Dragons were too strong. So Greyoll agreed to two conditions. She would never have another divine child, and that Dragons would cease to exist.

I got ya huh? Heeeheehee! They weren’t all killed of course! Actually, they couldn’t be but I’ll get there in a second. Instead. Orthus set to work once again, joined by several other Gods and the Silent Weaver, and even the help of a few Revenants! Orthus fashioned a large device, looking like an inverted bell tower mixed with a church and a space ship! And then Greyoll gathered all her children, even Farramuss who was still furious with his mother for betraying Vyrilana. And Orthus activated his invention. Greyoll flared her wings as she joined several other Gods in casting a new spell never tried before. Splitting the essence of the Dragons into pieces. They were forcibly transformed into humanoid forms after the Origin Race of the world. The Male Dragons became Draganoids, with great spiky horned heads. They lost their wings, but gained quite the physical strength in return! Then the female Dragons became Dragonesses, they took on more of the beauty of humans, gaining beautiful faces and curves, and retaining their wings. Their physical strength became weaker than before, but they gained vast reserves of mana and stronger breath attacks! Greyoll herself was also affected as well as Vyrilana too! With that, the massive powerful forms of the Dragons had been sealed away inside them, trapped in humanoid forms, though as would be discovered later by a fuming Farramuss, it was possible to temporarily transform back into their original forms, though it caused massive stress on the body and mind. As thanks to Greyoll working with the others. The very essence of the Dragons, their true forms, had been changed forever. It was quite the- Vyrilana was there? Oh well yes!

What happened to Vyrilana after all she did? Ohhhh great question! See, it didn’t happen immediately, but about fifty years after the Gold Slaying War and the transforming of all Dragons into Draganoids or Dragonesses. Vyrilana’s abyssal hunger returned. Driving her to want to consume everything as The Maelstrom began reforming. The Gods were quick to act this time. Greyoll tried to perform the same soul magic as before as Vyrilana herself did not grow anymore, but her power and Maelstrom did, but this time, perhaps because two unique Soul Magics had been performed on her in too short a time. Vyrilana resisted and began rampaging once more. Though before she could grow too strong again, Astrea, Irall, Sarina, and Zarahi fought together and killed Vyrilana again. Once again, from her body emerged an Egg, though this one did not hatch right away. They tried destroying the egg, but it proved impossible. So there was no choice now. Whenever Vyrilana would revive, they would kill her again and again. Each time she was reborn without her memories, but eventually her hunger would trigger, though a few times it was caused by wrath as someone attacked her and she lost control of herself. After that it became a cycle, eventually the Gods chose heroes to kill a freshly hatched Vyrilana. Greyoll was distraught at this, but could not think of any other way to prevent her daughter from devouring the world. Remember that Greyoll wasn’t supposed to have any more kids? Weellll she kinda failed that heeheee~ She is a Recckani afterall!

Greyoll was very distraught over the constant deaths of Vyrilana to reset her memories and power, and she took solace with Sarina. Well… one thing led to another and Sarina and Greyoll had a baby! Both Goddesses were panicking quite a lot as Greyoll was forbidden from having another kid but had just done that! And so Sarina decided to hide their child from the rest of the world, placing her inside the Great Tree Urthalion which was growing like a massive treehouse around the Elven Kingdom! Sarina charged her daughters the Fairy Queens with guarding the secret of their child’s existence, even from Sarina and Greyoll’s other divine children and especially the other Gods!

And so, the Fairy Dragoness was born, and sealed away. Though Azuraide and Zell would make sure she would always be loved. But turns out there were quiiite a lot of things effecting Urthallion at once! The Fairy Dragoness was underneath the great tree, somehow a shard of Rula had entered and been absorbed by Urthallion, and it’s roots had even grown through the realm barrier that divided the Plaguelands from the rest of the world! Urthallion rapidly grew feet by the day, soon it would be named Urthallion the Spire of the World. And the Elven Kingdom atop it’s peaks would be lost, but the Elves would have a new kingdom made much lower down Urthallion’s base and between the other trees that also grew alongside Urthallion! Eventually Sylvhelm was made, and the Elves still live there to this day!

Oh your glow is getting brighter! Ummm let’s see… Urthallion and the other trees grew so massive that it began to blanket the light of the area as these trees became mountain sized, and because of the mixture of so many energies inside. The creatures inside became so strange and dangerous, a few can even rival the power of a lesser God! Obviously not one like even Orthus, one of the weaker Major Gods, but still they are insanely powerful! This hyper-massive forest would eventually be named Rizzack, and then renamed The Great Rizzack Sea of Trees, because of how the trees have levels like depth to them! The Coast, the Shallows, the Depths, and the Abyss. Within the Abyss is where truly nightmarish monsters lurk in perpetual darkness, and thousands of feet above them, in the safety of the light, is the city made from branches and vines and magic, Sylvhelm! Though the Elven King is dead sadly… he was assassinated 200 years ago… it was so tragic…
